question for the fakers out there

and what the hell is wrong with spreading a positive message to a world that has never heard it? before bob, reggae didn't exist in most people's minds. reggae is now a global movement because of him and his image. i for one am glad that his image was sold to me because i fell in love with reggae culture. but, yes, capitalism sucks.

 

It is really easy for white people to say stop blaming the whites and that it isn't true about the white man being in power because they have never felt the oppression, alienation, racism that other races have dealt with. Plus in my eyes it is more about money, it just so happens that A LOT of white people have the most money and most of the time other races that have power and money would rather be white, or identify with whites.

I am white but it doesn't mean that I don't empathize with other races and it doesn't mean I will sit blindly saying that white people haven't or don't do negative things in power. Open your history books. I don't hate white people or any other race, and I don't think anyone here is directing this "white capitalists" idea to anyone in particular on this site so don't get offended or take it personal.

 

lol, i have nothing against reggea, i dont listen, but hey if you want to. more power to ya, and if rasta makes you happy, im happy, i dont see why peeps have to hate on each others religion. so be it, fakers posers or whatever, if there happy, leave them be.. but vigilanteherbalist and i will have to agree to disagree on the capatalist thing. capitalism is what makes industry run. if it wasnt for greed, then no one would want to work. other than buying essentials for life, anything bought in want is a form of greed. i didnt need my motorcycles, i wanted them, therefor me buying them was an act of greed , smalll or big , greed is greed.

i can definitely empathise with other races troubles and whatnot...

but to say whites havent been oppressed is stupid...no, we havent had it near as bad as others have, but, just goin off affirmative action, there have been plenty of white people screwed out of a job or an education because some place had to meet their quota of minorities, rather than take the most qualified candidate...

my main issue w/ this thread and some of the points brought up in it is just the hypocrasy of it all...no other race would have treated the situation any differently in our place...

yes what was done (and in some cases what is being done) was/is wrong, very wrong...but i dont see why whites need to be called out specifically...all you're doing by that is spreading more negative and racist views around...

and yes, there may be a higher percentage of whites that are wealthy or in power or both, but that's mainly because we had a head start...

that head start aint doin me any good though...im livin in a tiny efficiency apt, i have no health insurance, no dental, i havent had contacts or glasses in months cause i can't afford to go see an optometrist and get a new prescription...i can't afford school...luckily i've kept myself employed and i've payed my bills so i at least have decent credit and was able to get a loan for a car...but i've been at the point where i was drivin a $400 junker around (delivering pizzas in it no less)...

and to the point about wealthy minorities identifying more with whites, or wanting to be white...well...what does that have to do with anything?

i identify with upper-middle class, i can relate to extreme poverty, i've been anywhere and everywhere in between, and not once did i feel like being white helped in any way...

bcmama you made some good points, but i still think it's unfair to hold whites in general responsible for everything that happened...the fact that the ones who were responsible happened to be white has nothing to do with what they did...there is an extremely low percentage of people that can actually handle that kind of power correctly and fairly, no matter what race...anyone put in the same shoes would have made the same mistakes

edit...im not really that upset by this conversation...i just think it's unfair to blame it on "WHITE capitalist america"...regardless of what color skin the people responsible had...i can bet you anything many many wealthy black families voted for mccain this past election, b/c he's republican, and everyone is lookin out for #1 first, and everyone else comes second, if at all

So what, in a few hundred years our descendants can deal with the issues we can not. Going back will just delay the conclusion. Bashing technology will get us no where because it is the key thing that will push us to evolve as a species. We can't blame our use of technology on technology itself because we gave birth to it. We are to blame and we must face the problems we created so our children wont have to.

 

I think it's lame when people call other people "fakers" or "posers." Who made you the authority on what is required to wear certain colors, labels, designs, etc...?

People can wear whatever the fuck they want. I don't judge and I don't label. Clothing, hair, jewelry, etc are all forms of expression and I respect everyone's choices for whatever reasons they have. The only case when I don't respect someone's choices is when they are expressing hate.
