I didn't mean that in a "good" way. I wouldn't wanna look like a typical person with dreads.... Most of 'em look like fags imo. Looks cool as hell on most people as long as they don't try to change their appearance.
what the xD I didn't even know Bob Marley made shirts, I thought it was kinda like those shirts you see at the corner store, the printed ones, and the odd-ball Hot Topic brand shirts I wear a tam with the rastafari colors at the top, like a 2 inch circle, around the crown of the tam, and the rest is brown. I didn't want those colors mainly because of the 'poser' comments I might get, but as I wore it, it grew on me. I got some sort of spiritual call, it may sound weired but it's been happening for around 7 months, and when I moved away from where I used to live, where all the hate, and anger was, the call was stronger for me. This is when I decided to start my dreads, to start over what I can. For me. Though, some people joke around with me about being a rasta, I know I'm not, but I still have that calling inside. I'm trying to PM somebody here, but I don't know how, because I read their words here on Rastafari and I can relate to it better than almost anything I've read on the internet the past months. </personal rant> There was something I read a long long time ago, and it was talking about the 'White Rasta' thing as here aswell, and she said "a Question I would like to ask is what does the white skin color of a man who is a Rasta poses ...that a man with black skin color who is a Rasta does not pose......think about it RASTAFARI and set your own agenda for the growth of the movement which we have all contributed to irregardless of our armies of detractors, variance of skin shades, different backgrounds, incomes and the likes. " and "RASTAFARI is a work in progress and each human has a contribution to make. Let no one deter you." Those stood out to me alot, but still I'm pretty ignorant about Rastafari and I'd like to learn from someone elses personal words. A friend of mine spoke to me when I first started getting this call, he spoke to me not as a rasta, but as someone who loosley follows it, he spoke of love, to share the love (Not like... hippy-ish like "WORLD PEACE", lol) he spoke of being true to yourself, and he spoke that hate shouldn't be in ones mind against someone else, because life's too short for that, etc Again, please don't kill me, I'd like to learn from another rasta, that knows that skin color doesn't matter (Not aiming at anyone, but everywhere I read about white rastas, there's always racism, always.)
You know what I mean't, haha. Edit: HAHA, you got me in your sig. Epic lol, I mean long enough nails for the work I was doing (Take this as non-sexually as possible), I had to nail in a couple pieces of wood to reinforce the closet, lulz.
Your post was my lol post of the day. Welldone. But anyway I'm not a rasta it's too much of a cliche for me, I have dreads and a black best friend already. I put a Marley track on my mp3 player and just felt really stupid listening to it on the train. There's this white dreaded guy me and my husband know and he is SO funny. Whenever my husband talks to him he has this PROPER rasta accent. Dis and dat and " I is not 'aving dat shit". Buttt when he talks to me he has a normal Wigan (My town) accent. Oh my god I lol'd.. He's a super nice guy though I just thought it was funny that he spoke to me in a non accent and to my husband (a non dreaded guy), he speaks all rasta.
i'm not going to read the whole thread, but would just like to mention a few things you know nothing of RastafarI if you think your skin tone makes any more of a difference than the colour of your eyes. you can be here goin on and on about 'but but it started with the black opression and hatred for the white man and its for blacks only and REAL RASTAS hate whites no matter what' but if that doesnt make you feel stupid inside i dont know what to say really. have you ever met any rastas? anyway, its more of a world vibe and feeling of unity and opening up your mind to what is. you can label things to be commercialised and whatnot, but if you see everyone other than the original ones as a red gold green wearing wannabe fakers then youre pretty off my friend, infact if those people are goodwilled and pure enough, no rasta will have anything against them, cause they spread the love and aslong as theyre not ignorant and arrogant, everything is positive (i however still do not like what they make people think in general). you can not label all rasta into a typical religion box or any typical box for that matter, it is something deeper, and something that will grow, cause its about something, that finally for a change, is real (i was goin for something longer and more orgaised but i gotta run)
I think that is a wonderful point. It's like when vegetarians get upset when ppl stop eating meat because it's trendy... Who cares? The world is still consuming less meat.
I think its f'n hilarious how you guys were all about each other and fuckin' on the pool table and now you're both like "fuck that bitch/bastard" lmao
are you trolling or something? if that's all you had to say i should ask you the same unfortunately i don't have the time to read like 400 posts, i just replied to your original idea and before that read the first 3-4 pages The philosophy, the way of life, the spiritual ways, the soul and so on, are not affected by your physical attributes like skin color, which is directly proportional to the ammount of sunlight your ancestors recieved. Your mind...thoughts... and soul..are only affected by your physical attributes if your mind lets it be so. dont confuse yourself
I thought it wasn't a religion, more of a way of life, right? @NP - Looking at your sig, now I want a damn cheeseburger.
http://www.calgaryreggaefestival.com/ I guess this is how you market to rich white folks. I dunno. The girl really creeps me the fuck out.
