is this anyway you could hire a doula? someone who can stand up for your rights while your birthing and tell people how you want to do things... is charles going to be there for the birth? he could definitely take charge and boss people around... this is your birth.... not theirs... if you don't feel comfortable doing something, tell them!

and you can pretty much refuse anything... you have that right!

this is SO important... labor as much as you can while still at home... don't go into the hospital too early...

i looked into hiring a doula... i'm afraid it might be too late, but i think i'll call around today. there aren't many in my town unfortunately.

Charles will be here and I'm going to make up a birth plan and talk to my doctor about it. My mom is the type who wanted to be induced and have an epidural as soon as possible, but she's very supportive and did say before i came down here that whatever i want i can get (because she works there) so i think i'll talk to her about that more too... i told her what the nurse practitioner said yesterday and she just said i'm sorry and whatever happens she think it'll be fine... hopefully she was just having an off day... lol i need her support!

it sounds bad, but i'm almost regretting doing all the reading because i feel like it would almost be easier to go in ignorant... just expecting what they tell me to expect.

oh and i will wait as long as possible before going to the hospital... actually the nurse pract. said she knew an OB nurse who didn't want to be hooked up to all the stuff so she checked her own dilation and went in at 8cm dilated... i'm still not sure how to take that.

definitely wait until the last minute to go in.... the longer you wait, the less intervention is likely to take place... :)

definitely get a birth plan written up and make sure the hospital sticks to it... have you been visited MDC? it is a great resource... you still have plenty of time... most first time mothers don't give birth until after they hit the 40 week mark... :)
