what would we we name the five doller coin? the fanoonie? ...and ya, the government had this wierd plan to switch to coinage for the $5 bill and with the money they saved as a result of having to produce less bills (they have to be replaced more often than coins) they were going to dump those savings into some do-goodery program which has now escaped memory...this plan has been scrapped, because most Canadians saw it for what it was; stupid, the $5 bill is here to stay...for now... ...and really, you all complain about more bulk in your pockets, but how cool would a $5 coin be? come on, we could put a canoe on it, with trudeau on the front, or maybe just trudeau in a canoe, he liked canoes as for the whole $50 bill conundrum, go to a bank and switch up for 2 $20s and a $10, problem solved, bob's your uncle
a 5$ coin, IMO, would be impracticle...it could get lost too easily, unless it was the size of your palm.. the 2$ is perfect
I made it btw, weather here in Orangeville has been brilliant except for yesterday morning :sunglasse
Which places are those? I've been a traveler but I've lived in Canada my entire life. I've never come across anywhere that hasn't accepted any dollar bills less than $100.00. It's the 100 dollar bills that are checked for counterfit.
Oh, as for "too much coinage" to carry around.. that's why someone on here should patent an idea for some kind of coin wallet. Maybe a coin dispenser but cooler. hehe. I'm sure a lot of tired canadian will buy it as opposed to having their pockets weighed down in metals.
