    https://phys.org/news/2019-07-quantum-technology.html

This is the first evidence I've seen presented to the public, in no uncertain terms, that the second computer revolution has already begun, and Star Trek is not far around the corner. They have invented a single quantum "transistor", or beam splitter, that eliminates the need to do enormous classical calculations that are quite commonly done. You could say, quantum mechanics imply classical mechanics are merely a rough approximation of reality, so all their quantum computer has to do is translate the symmetry of quantum reality into the symmetry of classical physics, so people can actually make sense out of it. Looking at the world as being causal makes sense, until it doesn't, which is why people have emotions. Without context, logic is meaningless.

Anywho, their discovery could eventually lead to a theory of everything, because they have just figured out how to processes huge volumes of data almost instantly using a handheld device that runs on a 9v battery. They have established a fundamental symmetry between space-time and causality that can be applied to efforts to reformulate the HUP and Schrodinger equation as Intuitionistic mathematics. Every freaking computer on the planet will now have to be redesigned from the ground up to incorporate this technology, because it makes it a million times faster and more efficient to do almost any complex computation, but there's no rush. It would be more helpful to have a theory of everything first. Here they have discovered the symmetry between Bayesian probabilities and wave mechanics, between geometry and dynamics.

Technically, Quantum Moore's Law says "Be One With The Transistor!"

It finally occurred to me that this means it is possible to design a Star Trek style tricorder, for which their is at least a ten million dollar prize. Using an assortment of as few as 32 optical quantum gates, or transistors, it should be possible to create what is essentially a quantum frequency comb capable of almost instantly doing Fourier analysis on anything you point it at. If nothing else, everything radiates heat and a Star Trek tricorder would be able to tear apart the entire spectrum of light and any other vibrations into their constituent frequencies. Using this same kind of approach you could analyze anything almost instantly, including any data base in the world, and instantly confirm or rule out the fastest ways to find what you need. Just like on Star Trek. Computer On!

Sometimes, I wish I could stop thinking about this crap, but this is the singularity, where communications and information become almost instantaneous. I've seen one discovery after another just like it in condensed matter physics, and they are rapidly closing in on how to reformulate the HUP. It could take a few decades for them to get it right without the computers to help. Because their theories are all fucked up, they have to deal with sorting out the fundamental physics as part of creating more powerful AI. Using analog approaches like this one, a quantum AI could become indistinguishable from a God of the internet that puts Google and other search engines out of business.

This discovery is now public knowledge, as is the fact it is already possible to make a room temperature optical quantum computer on a chip, along with other newly developed quantum circuitry specifically designed for something like a Star Trek tricorder. In fact, the first terahertz laser on a chip was just developed, but they have yet to make it run cool enough for commercial applications. Using terahertz chips with quantum optical combs you could rewire the entire internet, replacing all the cellphone towers with lightbulbs that emit invisible light that won't even give you a bad sunburn, but will penetrate walls. A handheld tricorder with the technology should be able to see right through your cloths, and even sample your DNA and know if you smoked a cigarette on your lunch break. With the available AI we already have, it would be able to pick you out of a crowd of thousands just by the way you walk.

In other words, there is almost nothing that can hide from this technology, which will inevitably replace everything we have today in the way of electronics. It is millions of times faster and more efficient and, theoretically, capable of being over 100% efficient.

  5. What I like about you, woo, is that I can say absolutely anything and you'll respond with a wealth of information.

I assemble puzzles, which is as much an art as it is a science. It requires a few decades of study and about a dozen years of experience, but you get good at it when you stop asking if you are there yet.

I can do a Rubic's Cube in my head, but its boring once you learn all 40 patterns.

  9. And you say you're brain damaged? Whatever damaged your brain must have stimulated your smartrebral cortex, 'cause you know a lot of stuff.

I inherited my father's fabulous brain, and promptly damaged it so badly it almost killed me twice. It required 30 years, but eventually I started to make sense to other people, but most hate what I have to say. My brain works like neither a westerner's nor an Asian's, but something entirely different, more primitive. I can only remember all these facts, because they speak to the symmetry of my unconscious mind, while I struggle to even remember my own address.

Only because time is never what you think it is, until that time rolls round again, because without reliable memories, everything is deja vu all over again! Explanations fall on deaf ears, if nobody gets the punch lines to the jokes.
