A had a few tiny little plants in the yard from some old bag seeds.
Nothing that great and hardly anything...

But the cool thing was, after a very mild frost, the leaves all turned dark purple.

    Pretty neat.

I too, have had purple plants show up every now & then with outdoor grows, and always thought I just had a bit of good luck with bagseed. So the purple-ness is truly a function of low temps & not the plant's genetics?

hey nice plants. i had some purple this year too. but from years of growing some are purp. and some the purple-ness is truly a function of low temps & not the plant's genetics. but either way the crystals tell the truth, and it looks like ya got em.

and i always use bagseed, expect the clones i kept going from bagseed also.

beautiful plants, and the purpleness is a result of the temperature

Cold induced purple coloring is supposed to be a bad thing. Potency goes down apparently. Warm purp is the only purp to show off. It looks nice, regardless, though. :)

Potency goes down? Can you explain how this happens? Or maybe even link to a site that explains it better?

Google it. Youll find plenty of info about cold induced purple. I believe the theory is that it uses more energy protecting itself from the cold shock, that it slows on thc production.

Ive seen the same strain (clones) grown at the same time, both in the same sized pots with the same soil. The difference being that some were outdoors (which purped) and others greenhoused (which stayed green). Both harvested the same day, dried and cured the same amount of time. The green was superior. I've seen this same experiment five years in a row now, different green strains each year.
Pineapple kush and ice experiments this year.
