I still havent managed to pick that record up...i think the first punk album i bought was Frankenchrist by DK in the early '90...the funny thing was i was into mostly ACDC and GnR at the time...and i only bought the album because of the funny cover...but since then ive never looked back :D

Hey PunkRocker I see that you aren't a big Sex Pistols fan. Neither am I, big time! They were more contrived than the Monkees. Mclaren took notes of the NYC scene- nazi armbands, dog collars, Thunders puking in front of the assembled Brit press corp, Richard Hell's ripped shirts and safety pins etc etc. There is nothing. At all. That they did first. Everything they did was contrived to the smallest detail!

And that bastard never did give Syl back his guitar!

LUVs me some Bon era AC DC!

Funny, I still don't have Frankenchrist. That record was infamous when it first came out because of it's inner sleeve. I still haven't seen that picture and I don't think I want to!

I really hate the Pistols...i think they were all posers...hahaha...like i said somewhere in the punk forum: If i listen to then i might OD on their bullshit anarchy lyrics...hahaha...and they had no talent at all...Sid was just a poser that could play a note...yet somehow he rose to legendary status and is the icon of all the posers out there...

The sleeve is a piece of art...its very cool...i find it funny how freedom of speech/expression only goes so far when it comes to music...

Posers from the word go. And their music sucked. And they hated rock-n-roll and said as much. I loath them. Johnny Thunders got 'em back pretty good with his song, 'London Boys.'

Nobody ever shed light on your second point better than Jello Biafra.

Biafra is my hero...hahaha...although i wish he would have continued being thier lead...

DK have a song called Kill the Sex Pistols...it was great...hahaha...dude from crass was said to have kicked the shit out of Sid once a week until he died...hahaha..i dont know if thats true though...even anti-flag said they hated the Pistols...but they also said they were influenced by them but after they found REAL punk turned away from that posercore nonsense...

Other than certain political leaders there is no one on earth I hate more than Johnny Rotten. He's spent 30 years riding in limos pontificating what is and what is not punk. And dissing legit legends. And treating American punk bands like garbage.

Biafra is one of my heroes too. He and D Boon were the top left-wing voices against the conservative 80s. I'm normally a good time cars-n-girls kind of a RnR fan, but I do love political bands like the DKs, Minutemen, Crass, MDC, etc.

Hahaha...ive always said and always will say that Johnny Rotton should be shot in the brain for crimes against punk...thats worse than treason(if i gave a a shit about treason that is)...Rotton Wouldnt know punk if it kicked him in the nuts and executed him on the street...thats why i like SLC Punk...it was funny when that guy who didnt look punk ripped that posers hat off and started beating on him for having a brittish flag on it...CRASS was a GREAT brittish punk band(if you could understand them that is) along with the Buzzcocks...

Biafra is in the Independant party...if i voted i would vote for them...^_^

I'd love to be that judge jury and executioner!

If I'd been in San Fran back in the day I would have voted for Jello. Diane Feinstein has been all he said she was. Bands like the DKs and Crass talked the talk and walked the walk. I still like cars-n-girls bands better tho. hehe

To be honest, I prefer listening to late 50s early 60s era rocknroll to most anything else. (well precisely bands like the Dolls who crank up the sonic fury on the same stuff) Punk has the same energy as golden era RnR, but something got lost along the way IMO. I blame those rock-n-roll hating Sex Pistols! I still don't know what forum to hang out in. I can't stand most of the stuff in the 'rock-n-roll' forum and am really not a punk rocker.

Im not really a punk either...i like metal and jam bands too...im just someone who really likes punk rock and its culture :D

The point of punk was to strip rock back to the basics...3 cords...the pissheads hated rock but they could ONLY play punk...thats from a book...i just cant remember what book it came from...lets say Manson hates punk...he made a good choice going the way he went...he didnt sellout the music he hated...he embraced the music he loves...

I am a fan of punk rock and know a lot about it. Been to hundreds of shows over the years. I just dig greaser rocknroll best and don't really see a forum for doo-wop, rockabilly, girl groups etc- you know the golden age of rocknroll! (as a kid in the 70s I was lucky enough to relive it all on AM radio and I still love it best- the Dolls perfected it IMO... bop shu bop shu bop a rama lama ding dong)

I read one guy said that he didn't take your opinion seriously because you hate the Pistols. I wonder if my opinions will be taken seriously haha! I just hate it when lies win and truth loses. The Pistols were the Monkees of punk rock and lots worse. That's the damn truth!

Hahaha...when it comes to punk losts of people dont like me because i dont listen to or like commercialized punk very much...sure anti-flag and NOFX have a few good songs but...still not my favorite...and unlike most people i kinda dont like the Clash either(prefer the 101ers)...if i wanted bubble gum punk i would listen to green day(who, by the way, idolize the Pistols)...because atleast they can play worth a damn...all the real punks i know hate the pistols and all those kids are posers for all im concerned...so their opinion doesnt really matter to me...just the pure fact they are trying to put the point across that they are punk and so are the pistols proves my point...they can look at my list on here and not know a single one and still call me a poser :p

I grew up listening to Do-Wop...hahaha...i still listen to it...from time to time...ive gotton into a lot of Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Louis(sp?) lately...hahaha...

Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis!!! F YEAH that's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

I kinda like bubblegum punk... Mr T Experience is a fave- saw them about 10 years ago and been a fan for about 18. I rate Joe Bummer and the Clash ahead of the Pistols, but not by much. At least they appreciated rocknroll even though they were about as contrived as the Pistols.

Better put down the Doo-wop or pretty soon you'll find yourself singing the praises of Sha Na Na like me hahaha!

Hahaha...ill never put down the Do-Wop...hahaha...or the bluegrass...i like weird music people dont expect me to listen to...and the music people expect me to like(Pistols, Cradle of Filth and Shitknot) i hate...hahaha...i figure if i dont listen to everything people consider me closed minded to the idea of other types of music...so i have to show them i like everything(except a lot...well almost 99% of whats on the radio these days that kids are listening to)

Hahaha...i just thought of two other good early punk bands that never get credit for the movement(out of complete randomeness and nowhereness), The Fugs and MC5 :D...

I have one rule about music... if it makes you shake yer tailfeather ya crank it up and bounce off the walls!

Garage bands don't get their due credit for punk rock nearly enough. The 'Nuggets' compilation was playing right before the Dolls hit the stage at Max's Kansas City for the first time. I love MC5 (really EVERYTHING that came out of Detroit late 60s early 70s- those boys knew their rocknroll!) and particularly their faithfull covers of Little Richard and Chuck Berry. To me the MC5 is a much hotter band than any punk rock band.

hahaha...MC5 was amazing...i was lucky enough to find all three of their albums at a pawn shop one day a long with the first album from Mayhem(bought it for $3 and its worth about 5gs but i would never sell it :D) and a Black Widow record...all 5 in great condition(i almost cried...hahaha) :D

Detroit was a mecha for music in the 60's 70' and even the 80's with a lot of underground black metal from Norway coming to play...it almost makes me proud to be living in MI...hahaha..

Great band... I like Sonic's Rendevous Band even better. And of course the Stooges and Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes and Brownsville Station and Bob Segar and Motown for sure!

You are lucky with the lps! I freakin' sold my 400+ lp collection in a pinch about 12 years ago... just before ebay and I really had no idea how much first print hardcore punk was going for! God I literally lost a fortune there.....

The Stooges are my favourite band to come out of AA they had such a new sound to them for a michigan band no one else had that sound here at the time...ahhhh...back in the day...

That must have sucked really really hardcore...i couldnt imagine selling my LPs...it would be like losing my lifes work(that makes my life sound kinda sad :p)...

Check out 'Gang War' sometime. That was Johnny Thunders and the MC5's Wayne Kramer band circa late 70s early 80s. Frickin white hot rocknroll!! Talk to you later man.

Yeah, I'd spent a lifetime (well at the time hehe) sifting through second hand stores and garage sales. A real sore spot! Hey have a good one.
