Actually, I have every Beatles album on CD, and most of them on vinyl, so I don't need anymore. I didn't list them all because they aren't all psychedelic.

Yeah, I have Ummagumma, but other than the live material, it does seem, as you said, "beyond psychedelic," so I didn't include it in my list.

I have Tales From Topographic Oceans, but I consider that progressive, not psychedelic.

Well, I'm going today to a local music store to look for some cheap psychedelia on vinyl. I've gotten some interesting things there before, so I'm hoping to find something good there today.

Ya, it's progressive, but it is the craziest I've ever listened to; Dance of The Dawn is just amazing.

Man, I was listening to The Yardbirds' Roger the Engineer again last night, and I realized that it has to be one of the most underappreciated rock albums of all time. I've never heard the album mentioned anywhere, but I find it amazingly good, especially for 1966.

To start with, it has great psychedelic elements (See "The Hot House Of Omagarashid") that blend perfectly with Jeff Beck's screaming guitar. Every time I hear this album, I always wonder how it was recorded in 1966. Plus, Keith Relf's voice is really great for Rock 'n' Roll and Psychedelia.

"Ever Since the World Began" is a great song all about how the Devil has pushed man to wars and killing. It starts off slow and psychedelic, but then gradually gets an upbeat rhythm. Also, for you Led Zeppelin fans, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones also play on this album (only on two tracks.)

    Definitely check this one out...

YAY! I got some new vinyl today! Here's what I picked up for about $21.00:

Deep Purple - The Book of Taliesyn
John Mayall - Blues From Laurel Canyon
    Moby Grape - Moby Grape
    The Byrds - Fifth Dimension
Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die

Any comments on my selections? Good? Bad?

A few select songs on the Wall may be considered somewhat psychedelic... but as an album... no. Most of the Wall's music is rather sparse and bleak, though still good.

Yeah, I wouldn't call The Wall psychedelic at all... Compare The Wall to A Saucerful Of Secrets (which everyone can agree is psychedelic).

Most of the really famous psychedelic albums have already been mentioned in this thread. Here are some, a little less known:

    Can:
    Future Days
    Tago Mago
    Ege Bamyasi

The complete Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy by Gong:
    Flying Teapot
    Angels Egg
    You

    Daevid Allen (Gong's guitarrist):
Live Floating Anarchy (Allen's guitar at the end of "Stoned Innocent Frankenstein" is probably the most intense acid-like musical sound I've ever heard. A MUST for real psychedelic music fans).

    Manfred Mann's Earth Band:
    Solar Fire
    Nightingales and Bombers
(These two are pure psychedelic ear candy. Not heavy at all and great for tripping).

    UFO:
Flying (This is UFO's second album, and their best. What's amazing here is how simple this music is. Just guitar, bass, drums and a singer. No keyboards, nothing electronic, but trippy as hell. After this album they became Heavy Metal stars, and ruined their music).

    Mahavishnu Orchestra:
    Birds of Fire (Wow).

    Phil Manzanera and 801:
Live (Manzanera's guitar is totally over the edge here. Another MUST).

I just bought an album by a '60s LA band called Love, the album's Forever Changes. Anyone ever hear it? It's pretty awesome, it has a sharp combination of both the psychedelic era's flower-power optimism and paranoid fears. Arthur Lee, the band's main brain and frontman (and a mulatto hipster like Hendrix) is a genius.
