Remember that dream I wrote about here? About the three lane one-way highway? I saw a young David Icke, and he was driving a car in the same direction as everyone else. I was warned not to get in with him. NOW I know what it meant.

I don't mean to sound as though your looked down upon, thats not what I was trying to say. I'm a firm believer in karma and I KNOW it ws in my karma to find god thru the use of psychedelics....of course its not for everyone and thats fine by me..I just think its wrong to say that a person can't have a deep spiritual experience from them....because I know first hand that that is not correct....

I've eaten mushrooms probably around 15 times and lsd twice and the most negative side effect I've experienced would have to be the nasty stale taste of dried mushrooms

No, you are being judged because you prejudge the use of drugs which God has created for our benefit without knowledge or wisdom about these drugs. You speak without experience about things you know nothing about and your fear of the unknown (spiritual poop) is written in your very soul. Open up and let God cleanse you.

You are not being looked down on. But there is an aspect of reality that you are inaccurately representing by your refusal to believe that it even exists. Just like religion, politics, sex, art, the media and so on, drugs have great potential for benevolence, but they are very powerful. Such power can become dangerous when it is used without regard for reality. If I may speak for the others in this thread, we are trying to present to you our experiences of that reality.

The problem comes into sharper focus when you consider how marijuana has been misrepresented.

It was once believed that marijuana inevitably led to harder, more dangerous drugs. There were numerous scare stories about the instant degenerative effects that would scar a user. After just a single experience, the fledgeling potfiend was doomed to drift, rudderless, into a hellscape of despair, madness, crime, disease and death.

For all the wrong reasons, this proved to be a self-fulfulling belief.

Because marijuana was so misrepresented, many people believed it was a dangerous, illicit thrill that they had to try, for all the wrong reasons. Who knows if they would have tried it otherwise? When it proved to be both less dangerous and less reality-transforming than the myths asserted, too many people assumed that all information about all drugs was equally inaccurate. If they were wrong about marijuana then maybe they were wrong about all the other drugs. If marijuana is so harmless, then chances are good that crack cocaine, PCP, methamphetamines, heroin, oxycontin, and so on were also harmless and benevolent. Too many people still lump together all of the information they believe they know about "drugs," then they act on that information to make really stupid mistakes that actually do destroy their lives. To add insult to injury, they don't even get the full benefits of the "good" drugs.

But for the millions of people who are careful, conscious and wise about marijuana (as well as psilocybin, salvia, LSD and peyote), it is a pleasant, benevolent and important aspect of the human experience. At the very least, it enhances the senses, making everyday experiences more enjoyable. For those inclined to more, marijuana offers a reasonably reliable connection to inspiration, it allows for more meaningful aesthetic experiences and assists in the recognition of the vital but abstract truths that lead to spiritual growth by making them appear more tangible. For every non-user who believes marijuana (as well as psilocybin, salvia, LSD and peyote), is a dangerous drug, there are at least as many who believe it is, quite literally, a gift from God.

In one very important aspect, drugs are similar to religion, politics, sex, art, the media and so on. Everyone has their opinions, but one cannot speak about any one of these things with any true authority until one has had direct, personal experience. There are risks, of course, and you are free to choose whether you want to experience these things for yourself, but you should not mislead others.

    Peace and love

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA Who the hell wants to have fun? We must search for enlightenment and do all sorts of serious things with our tools, AKA the things we take to see colors fly around, giggle like maniacs, and feel great.

Pfft. I used to believe in that 'enlightenment' stuff. Until I became enlightened, and began dosing for fun. The key to a good life is having fun, so why doesn't everybody lighten up and have a blunt and a tab?

yeah I agree a world in piece wouldn't need psychedelics...but I think that the level that most people are stick in their socialized rolls that unless they experience first hand the barrier shattering affects of something like lsd, they will never know, and will continue to support the system that keeps them stuck...it opens a window beyond the socialization that can not be denied and once you've seen out that window, you always know its there

I thank you for acknowledging the brevity of my state of being, and how humbling it is to be in my presence. Being in the light, after all, is not something everybody can do. Maybe if you eat some mushrooms you can walk in the light too.

I am not opposed to the limited use of proven drugs while the one taking them is monitored carefully in a clinical environment. How often has this happened? All too often drugs are used not for SERIOUS enlightenment purposes, but just to party. If there is any good in them all, most of them will end up being greatly abused. I say that they are ultimatlely NOT the key to serious global spiritual enlightenment. If drugs were to be relied on for achieving world peace, the goal will never be reached, because the drugs will continue to be an artificial means. We must seek solitude in one another as friends, not in substances, this is the ultimate answer. NO DRUG CAN GIVE IT, OR TAKE IT AWAY. Long term over use of anything is not good. It will take sober people to run any world, but especially a world at peace.

    A) this approach indicates that you do not have faith that God is always monitoring and adjusting our environment
    B) Since you believe in God, it is imperative that you have faith that God is taking care of the environmental situation instead of turning to man's understanding to create a 'clinical environment' that man thinks is best
    C) if you seek a divine hand in your experience, there are times when it is right to be alone with God, not with other people around, so you can experience one on one communion with the divine instead of having the experience filtered through your brothers/ sisters
This is good too. God throws parties as well as educates, not everything is "work".
By those who know nothing about them, such as yourself.
Ultimately God is the key to enlightenment. There are many ways that God can enlighten you, including spirit altering substances.
Which is why you must see that God is running the world and not people. Maybe drugs will help you see this.

Spirit altering drugs can effect the spirit like steroids, of course, they can accentuate malignancies of the spirit as well as the good portions of your spirit. The difference between spirit altering drugs and steroids is this: the spirit is eternal, the gains (or positive losses) achieved while under the effects of a drug lasts forever (although the effects can appear to disappear among worldly concerns); the use of steroids only temporarily effects the temporal physical body...

    blah blah and more blah....

O so, I suppose you know what your god thinks is best? I'm sure you learned this all from the bible, a piece of literature written by men. God isn't taking care of shit, we are. God isn't going to ensure that someone doesn't have a bad trip or do something stupid while on drugs. WE ARE.

When you are alone, you are alone. The idea of god being there is an excuse for people who fear being alone, or have nothing left to cling to.

If god ran the world, I'd be sitting on a nude clear-water beach smoking a fat blunt right now.

Blah Blah Blah is right. What is with this spirit talk? Show me some kind of tangible evidence that the concept is even real. The way drugs work is being either protagonists or antagonists on the neuro-chemical receptors in our brain. Where's the spirit involved?

Oh, Enlightened One, please share the fruits of your abundant wisdom.

What does it mean to be human? Are we really no more than just relatively articulate meat machines? What's the difference between enlightened and inspired?

Very few of the blind appreciate the art of pantomime.

So, no pleasure means no God? Or are you saying you don't believe in a God of pleasure. What if your non-existent (hey, you're the one denying his existence) God is not who we're talking about?

I thought you said you were enlightened. Yet you want tangible evidence of the spirit? Physical evidence of the non-physical reality? How about a fresh baked loaf of consciousness? Or maybe an architectural performance of the actual inspiration for Mozart's Requiem? Or how about fossil evidence of the evolving osteological morphology of love? Or maybe a working amphibious model of the essential nature of truth? If you like, maybe it could all be explained in the mathematical terms used by physicists.

Or would you see nothing but stones, bones, bread and water?

When you can explain why a minor third FEELS different than a major third, then maybe the great ground of being will offer you another taste of Satori.

    Until then,

    Peace and Love

Sure, I'll even do it for free today. :H

First of all, let me start off with: your questions have no relevance at all to the main discussion of the promotion of psychedelic drugs for enlightenment. I'll respond because you thought you could post and be a clever son of a bitch without offering your opinion on the topic at hand. The only reason your god even came up in the last response was because of the following quote:

I'm sure god is going to help someone from going to the looney bin when they dose out in the wrong set and setting.

And now to grace your insignificant questions with substantial answers... this should be interesting.

Being human means a lot of things. Your question is ambiguous.

The difference between enlightened and inspired is a big one; once again, a shitty question. Enlightened is a state of being in which you are educated and free from illusion. Inspired is when you are motivated by a specific emotion. You sound like one of those pseudo-intellectuals, asking all these vague rhetorical questions. Your mouth is flapping but nothing is coming out.

Very few dumbasses can actually get to the point, and instead trail off into witty sayings to make up for the substance their arguments lack.

The god I don't believe in is the one I was forced to believe in for my upbringing: a christian god, or more specifically a Catholic God. When you put a capital G, generally you're talking about the one or ones I don't believe in. ;)

As for the god I believe in, the universe started somewhere, and it was with this being. Who the hell knows who or what it is.

I am free from illusion, yes. Do I know if other realities beyond ours exist? No, because there is no proof. People who just believe stuff without proof are IDIOTS, and they're living in illusion. Only an ignoramus would just go around believing shit because they don't have an explanation for what they can't understand.

Uhhhmmmm... because it's a different note, and when you strike that different note, your auditory cortex interprets the difference in pitch. Through neural connections, the data is brought to other areas of the brain where it is further interpreted, and emotions are generated! WOW!

I ate my plate of Satori.. Can I have another helping?
