I've been heavily addicted to Vice;s short docs. I saw the sofx one a little while ago. For vice, it's surprisingly -- and refreshingly -- good quality journalism.

Although I don't like the guy who does the videos on drugs. I mean they let him fucking interview Shulgin and he just asked dumb questions and worshipped him. If I were shulgin and I was going to make an exception to the no interviews rule one time, I would hope it would be a better interviewer.

 

The drug guy reminds me of emo so much . Is emo just hipsters that cut ? lol

I agree with you. I felt it was such a waste. I think they mention it would be one of the last interviews with the good shulgin. Such a shame and 'blasfemi' to get a fucking emo retard to sit and giggle and ask retarded questions. At least do some research and have some proper questions ready.

Watched Zeitgeist the other day and thought it was pretty interesting. I knew about everything he talked about but I thought it was presented pretty well. I thought it was going to be some jackass pushing his crazy conspiracy theories but I was pleasantly suprised that it wasn't like that at all. I just saw that there is another film, Zeitgeist: Moving Forward I believe is the name but my Netflix is cut off atm. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth watching?

 

yeah man. God if I got the chance to interview shulgin, yes I would be giddy and worshipful, but I would try to pull off a serious interview. I mean I know vice's audience isn't academic or anything but if shulgin is going to give one last interview, I'd want it to be more than some drugged out hipster going "omg omg omg it's shulgin." I'd rather hear him tell me about his area of expertise.

yeah man, as someone who would like to study science and write with my life, if I was given the opportunaty to both do journalism (which is my family's trade) and drugs and learn about interesting science/botany, I would do a better jobm be more respectful and be more serious. I would also not wear skinny jeans.

I really like shane though. I think non-"objective," gonzo-style journalism is the way of the future. My parents are journalists and I've showed them some of his videos and they say that he is a lot better at making docs than some of their interns lol.

Shane is cool though. I like that he was just some druggie from montreal -- like myself -- before he made it in LA.
