flouride is in just about every medication prescribed today, it is flooded in our drinking water.. where does it come from? the government tells us its good for our teeth, not when INGESTED!
flouride causes lesions on the brain.. thought to make usmore docile and complient to what THEY want.

heres the truth my friend...http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread804235/pg1 watch vid in OP

Zoloft is an SSRI, or a Selective-Serotonin Reputake Inhibitor. Which means it inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. In my opinion SSRI's are shit drugs. If she starts taking them, you might see her anxiety get worse before it gets better. They do help alot of people in the long run, but they also mess up alot of people.

I'm sure you've already googled the side effects profile. In my case, the reason I've always refused to take them is because of possible sexual side effects. Most people get decreased libido, delayed orgasm, or inability to achieve orgasm at all. Now I guess while you are being treated, side effects might happen, and that's fair enough, but the scary thing is something called Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction, where the sexual side effects can be ongoing and sometimes indefinite even after the treatement stopped. And yes, they have been linked to birth defects. I think there is actually a big lawsuit going on right now because of that.

There are also alot of horror stories surrounding those drugs such as increased suicidal/violent behavior, but these cases are rare. Still something to think about though... Most people who have done school shootings were on some type of SSRI... Obviously I cant say it's only because of the SSRI, but they do mess with your brain chemistry...

Bottom line for me, unless her anxiety is completely crippling and there is no other way to control it than meds, I'd try to find another way of dealing with it. Wether it's natural remedies, meditation, exercise (cant put enough emphasis on the benefits of meditation and exercise), I would go with that. This is a classic ''teach a man how to fish'' situation. Plus, if she beats this without meds, it will increase her confidence in herself, leading to a better outcome. If she takes meds, she'll never know if she did it or if it was the meds, and once the meds are gone, she'll panic again.

Getting off those drugs is a whole other story. The withdrawal effects are horrible - one of them being increased anxiety and panic attacks. You could see how hard it would be to get off those drugs once you are on them for anxiety...

I reccomend you watch the documentary ''Making a killing: the untold story of psychotropic drugging'' or ''Psychiatry: an Industry of death'' with your girlfriend. they are pretty one-sided, but they can provide some good insights.

This is just one man's opinion, but I think meds should be a last, last last last last resort once ALL else has failed. I started having panic attacks when I was about 17 and overcame that by educating myself, learning relaxation techniques, and taking good care of myself. I still have other issues, but I'm slowly chipping away. I'm not going to go on meds until I've tried absolutely everything else.

Don't let them convince her she is ''sick'' or there's something wrong with her brain or some kind of chemical imbalance. They are really quick to make such judgments when in reality no one knows. In 2012, you are no longer scared or nervous. You suffer from an anxiety disorder. You are no longer sad, you suffer from major depressive disorder. You are no longer excited, you are manic. These ''diagnosis''' cause more harm than good IMO. They bring a whole new level of serioussness to peoples' issues. Once they convince you that you have a ''disease'', you stop trying. You blame it on your neurons. You become a victim, like someone who has cancer or diabetes. It doesnt have to be like that.

Sorry for the long-ass post, but this is a sensitive subject for me. Me and my sister both had anxiety issues in the past. I refused to take meds and I'm good now anxiety-wise. She's been on meds for 5 years and can't live without them. Again, I'm still dealing with depression and other stuff, and I still get anxious about certain things (like tripping or going on tour), but the panic attacks are done with. I'm not trying to put myself on a pedestal, but that's my opinion...

I'm sending you guys my positive vibes:sunny:

i personally found that all of the SSRI type drugs i tried for anxiety made everything worse. i've tried cipralex, cymbalta, and wellbutrin and hated them all. ativan helps when i'm having a panic attack or need to calm down enough to get to work in the morning on an overly-anxious day, but those other drugs made my anxiety worse.

i also definitely had sexual side effects, as did my wife (she took cymbalta for a bit). we both had a decreased sex drive, and i had trouble having an orgasm.

not to parrot the post above mine, but definitely use them as a last resort. i found that cognitive behavioral therapy worked well for me, but any sort of talk therapy is good. i've seen 5 therapists over the years, but i've only found 2 that actually helped, so she shouldn't be discouraged if her first try at psychotherapy doesn't help.

i also agree that taking care of yourself makes a world of difference. when i'm anxious i find going for a brisk walk and eating a healthy meal can help as much as anything else.

another thing that helps me is to have a mantra (not sure if that's the best word or not) that you repeat to yourself when anxious. i always just remind myself that anxiety can't hurt me and that even if i'm uncomfortable, i should just go ahead and do what i would normally do. for me, that's going to work. on the days i'm anxious and having trouble going, i find that once i get there and realize that everything is okay, the anxiety fades quickly.

I'm stoked for this Saturday. At 9 a.m. me and a friend are going to a magic shop in fort worth that displays a bunch of tricks and sells them. Then after that we'll see star wars in 3D and most likely drop some 4aces.
