I think if you put shpongle in the same box as papa roach and blink182 you haven't listened to a full album on a psychedelic. Their albums are concept albums . . . listening to a few youtube links we post isn't gonna sell them to ya. download their album "Nothing Lasts . . . But Nothing Is Lost", take a high dose tryptamine, i dare ya. Every time i listen to that album . . . every fucking time. Done. Just done.

There is no better way to enter a K hole than this opening track

When this track comes on, it all makes sense. Where we came from . . . where I came from. So much power they have in their music. I know I said youtube links won't do it but just wanna see if others agree on this track:

Their other albums are excellent as well, I have a soft spot for this one because it's the first I heard.

^ The day Nothing Lasts... Came out I went to the record store with my gf at the time, headed up on to this hill where we could watch the sunset, brought my jukebox with me and we ate shrooms for her first psychedelic trip and my first time listening to that album. I was confused as hell trying to find my way back down that hill after getting mind fucked for the previous 4 hours.

How would you dose MDMA, 2C-B, and LSD? I thought about doing the 2C-B then the MDMA about 45min in then at the peak of the MDMA take the LSD then take another smaller dose of MDMA after about 45min or so.

Oh boy, I knew I should've kept my fingers way away from the keyboard, I had no freakin' idea who or how this might upset someone. Seriously, this wasn't aimed at you GB, and my tastes are so broad and I hear things in record stores (the kind that sell vinyl records as the preference of us collectors over CD format), on Serius radio, on last.fm, college radio and pretty much anywhere that isn't your town's alternative station. I went on, if you noticed, to railing against aging, decrepit bands (IMO of them), and jam bands too. I honestly wouldn't know who's bubblegum and who's not, so your shot was fair. For what it's worth, I'm sorry GB; and that setlist of stoner rock I compiled for you may not be your thing, I'm not really certain what is other than what you've bolded and I clearly insulted you by what you read into it that, being that you thought I was insinuating it's bad stuff. Please do take note that I just lumped a handful of bands together that I've seen various people talk about together with Schpongle and said they simply "ain't my thang". I didn't and wouldn't say, "GB, your taste stinks of shit!" That isn't even what I was thinking about. Hell, here I go shooting myself in the foot again, but some people have talked about loving Eels and 311 too. I personally do not like them at all. However, I like enough of what circulates around this forum and the people who listen to it not to go making character attacks. Tool and Minus the Bear have been mentioned before, I think by you and porkstock, and I love the both of them.

Okay, now Schpongle granted is not bubblegum. Not say any moreso than Acid Mothers Temple per se. In that comparison I mean that there's a HUGE underground following, like with Stereolab, so big so as to make them their own kind of underground top 40 hits if you will.

I suppose that those bands you highlighted that I like get more than their share of airplay on public radio, too. They've even got videos I'll bet, I know Goldfrapp does at least. I kind of doubt that any of them ever reached the critical success that 311 or Papa Roach did, but then I honestly wouldn't know, so if I'm wrong, you tell me.

That setlist I made you several pages back was made on a whim to cheer you up. I do hope that you'll give it a listen, and fuck it, be frank. Tell me if the stuff's shit or not in your book. I'm a music snob too, but I'm pretty objective so you not liking what I like isn't going to change whether I like you or whether I like those songs. I do, I think you're a cool guy, but we obviously differ in some regards musically. And I don't even think I've seen Insane Clown Posse ever mentioned by anybody, nor a few others there, so I sincerely wasn't taking aim at you GB. My point was also not meant to be read as "I'm cooler than thou because my taste is so esoteric", it was simply to spout off a few bands that clearly make their music, whether catchy like MGMT's or cacophonic like Black Dice's or Wolf Eyes', with the psychedelic experience in mind.

On that note, so too does Schpongle. For that I'll give them credit. I just haven't been able to get into them. It's still not a dis on you or anyone else. As for Animal Collective, listen to their album 'Sung Tongs', and your perspective of them being pedestrian is likely to change. If not, then to use yet another of TNS's wise catch phrases (now two in one day!), different tokes for different folks :grouphug: :peace: :sifone:

Sigh... I'm sorry to you too Cheese. I love me some Barrett era Floyd and Gabriel era Genesis, but again, these are just my opinions of the music, not of the listeners!

The only Shpongle song I've ever taken the time to listen to while tripping is DMT, and it was amazing.

This is what I posted about the experience in another thread:

how can you not like this? you gotta at least agree with the message, cosmo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqRSKU6Qr-A&feature=fvst"]YouTube - 311 Offbeat Bare ass with lyrics

i will tell a cop that i know my fucking rights
and we can match wits all night (for real)
he said if i had nothing to hide, then of course i wouldn't mind if he looked in our ride
"NO, uh, i'd really rather you didn't. and no we don't have guns in it"
we stood there for awhile, i continued to decline, firmly. i didn't lose my mind
i didn't let him break me, he's just another human.
not a bit afraid of what we were doing that day...

graffix bong, sing along with the song
of a mandatory sentence for a crime with no victim
when everyone knows jail terms should be picked in
order of the pain that they cause
do what thou wilt should be the whole of the law
until you violate the rights of your arother
respect the space of your sista and your brotha

Alrighty, well it's clear that those lyrics are preaching to the choir boy singing praise against the war on drugs over here. I just recall them getting hyped up and overplayed in my hometown when they first came out; but I'll give these tunes a fair go :)

Its cool cosmoknot, I didnt take it 'personally' but I have been a fan for quite awhile and felt that was a very erroneous comparison. They've been together for over a decade and pretty much created a subgenre. But anyways just spell Shpongle correctly is all I ask, I don't have any intentions on trying to make you enjoy their music or anything.

I'm contemplating some bath salts tonight, I really want to get high. I'd be willing to even try a synthetic cannibinoid blend but I think they are a bit pricey.

Have you completely quit smoking cannabis?

I'm assuming you used to since you say you miss it.

Its not like ketamine or coke where its something I try to distance myself from, its more I wanted to cut back on smoking weed and did and then I occasionally smoked with friends but most have moved or I just have lost contact with them. I'd be willing to smoke with pretty much anyone here and if I meet some people I'm willing to smoke with them. I just don't have a strong desire to solo toke much.

With that said bump for Marley incense :p

Those incense blends always make me want some real weed too. Some of them get me blazed as fuck, but the fact that they don't taste/smell like weed is a huge mark against them:(

The drug known as ecstasy has been used by 12 million people in the United States alone and millions more worldwide. Past research has suggested that ecstasy users perform worse than non-users on some tests of mental ability. But there are concerns that the methods used to conduct that research were flawed, and the experiments overstated the cognitive differences between ecstasy users and non-user .. more link...
