Life is serious. I've yet to meet anyone who actually took life seriously enough in fact, but I know many who take their hobbies and other distractions far too seriously.
I disagree, I think people take themselves WAY to seriously in most cases... Life is about having fun...because we're all gonna die and what kind of life are you going to lead if you're worried or concerned about EVERYTHING? A crappy one, I'd say.
I actually agree with you here (to a point), most people dont take it seriously enough. But it gets frustrating for me. Im constantly being told im being too lighthearted or too serious (mostly too serious, actually) Well damn, you know, i think ive got the balance just right. Im happy. Im passionate about what i care for. I respect others and their opinions...and the one time i find something a bit funny i get jumped on. Humour is important, if its harmless and innocent, which mine always is. Because i genuinely love and care. And believe me, i know about the serious stuff, too Sorry, know your post wasnt personal...but it feels good thats off my chest
I am actually the least serious person I know as far as my attitude goes. I'm difficult to really piss off or make an enemy of and I'm very forgiving. Above all, I am the clown of my circle of friends and I really get off on being ridiculous and making people laugh. Countless people I know tell me I need to grow up and act my age, go into a high paying career path blah blah, etc. etc. But when I see someone make a post like "you take life too seriously" for giving a damn about a political concern, that bothers me a lot. For one, it's just a dirty insult, and two it smacks of a lack of maturity. I mean I can go around and tell anyone they take something they care about too seriously. If someone is really, really good at playing guitar I could say to them "you must have no life to care about playing that much" and maybe there's a grain of truth in there somewhere but I'm really just being a bitter little bitch. The remark does more harm than good, and is just a horrible misuse of words. To me "you just take life too seriously" is an insult and like all insults is rooted in jealousy and or a general sense of insecurity. So it offends me, and so I respond because I feel like it. I guess I could just keep my mouth shut and not even bother but if I can raise some awareness to this issue I think I can do the world a microbe of good. Some people may think we ought to be careless and not worry about what we say and do but to my eyes, that's the problem with the world. Life doesn't suck because people are assholes and hate each other. That is a naive way to look at it. Life sucks because too many of us are insensitive towards each other and don't consider the effects of our actions. It's an issue of awareness.
Hey Sharethewarmth - I think you are trying to make political points to people who have realised a while back that you cant change nothing in a forum - except the forum itself. ok so you have an opinion and feel strongly about things I dont know anyone who doesnt but seriously dude take a look at the world I dont think you realise just how rich and powerful the powerful and rich are. They are seriously not on the same planet anymore and they dont have people spying in chat rooms and you really arent gonna change the world by posting at hip forums - your opinion isnt going to change matters - nor is mine - a forum is people talking and interacting as a an escape rather like a game - they are seeing what this envelope is and how far they can change its shape - they arent really going to change the world by posting here no-one is - the best you can hope for is that someone learns from you - but dude - dont believe for a minute that anyone here is here because they think its a way to change the world its just a bit of fun I belive you have to think of the forum as a game environment because its a fact that the real world has been lost to the rich who have become paranoid of us poor - I say riot you say no fair enough we both know where we stand - have opinions dude and battle them but dont criticise if someone laughs just hit them back !
the best ive seen was 2 girls holding a sign saying "we shaved our pubes, read our lips, no more bush" i was laughing so hard after that
the other day in Queen St Mall there were these people protesting the use of battery hens... they were protesting by sitting three people to a cage... they were all bunched up and couldnt really move... i mean, i support their reasoning and signed their petition and everything, but it was a very comical way to go about it, and i thought it was the best thing...
