You agree with someone who goes around calling himself Bufford T Justice and spouts far right views in almost every one of his posts, and then you accuse those who are socialists and anarchists of being right wing!?!:)

That was a good wind-up SC. Nice one. Well done. You had me there.

Make up your mind Sentient. I'm sorry I have to resort to bringing up your quotes to make a point but it's tough to not pick your posts apart when you go back and forth on this. And when you use the kind of language you used against me you open yourself up to a bit more in my opinion.

Nothing is ever just black and white Share the warmth. I think that the reason to try and see (not necessarily accept) Sentient's POV in his thread is that there's some kind of polemic started elsewhere, which may unwittingly carried across. I say this because I noticed you keep bringing up his posts rather than explain whether you understand what he is trying to explain. What if Sentient is frustrated so much by this lack of understanding from certain people (not just you, maybe not even you)that he is thinking that he is wasting his time? I'mnot at all surprised of this kind of treatment of Sentient from quite a lot of people in this forum, because I see how certain cliques have ganged up on him recently. But now that I've had a chance to look at your own posts, I would say this: If you are a sincere person, and truthful about being a caring person, then by all means invite Sentinent to explain his opinion about this particular event that he is unhappy about. Ignore everyone else, and the two of you try and listen and talk to each other as if it's the first time you've met, minus the personals. I know that Sentient is not against Wikipedia per se, because I have seen in some of his past posts that he has often used it himself. What I gather from his post is that he isn't for censoring Wikipedia, or anyone else, but that this particular issue has been handled insensitively by the aforementioned database's management team. If I'm wrong, ask him to explain, but that is how I looked at it before getting insinuations of being a Nazi sympathizer (again) a few posts back!?! (I can take insults BTW because I'm thick skinned, and I'm not shy of giving some back, but, and this is not directed to Share, even though I will not report anyone for flaming me, try and think a bit about the other people reading this forum's posts, especially families whose relatives were victims of the Holocaust, which some of you people so insensitively keep bringing up. I am not Adolf Hitler, or a Nazi. I can assure you. If you want, send a moderator to come to my house for tea).

It seems a trend with some people in our forum that anyone who likes to question their government is a Nazi sympathizer/communist/witch according to what decade/century we're dealing with, but ce la vis.

Like I said, Share the warmth, ask Sentient if he can calm down after all this halabaloo that all of us are responsible for, and let's see f we can get something out of this row, or else ignore each other so that at least we can remain civilized.

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't sentient's alias. Their style of posting is virtually identical.

Calling yourself an anarchist doesn't just magically make it so, dude.

Are you saying I am Sentient? Thank you very much for the compliment, because Sentient is more intelligent, charming, funny, caring, and brave than the useless Self Conceited sad whiner you will always be.

Take care SC. Enjoy the regurgitated ideas, and sterile opinions that have become your staple diet.

    OK, let's recap:

How could you possibly reach that conclusion? I fear for the kids you're teaching to write, if you have this poor a grasp of subject, pronouns etc.

If by "brave", you mean "willing to talk utter indefensible shite and then call anyone who even asks him to elaborate on it a moron", then no, you're still wrong, I could do that much better than either of you if I were so inclined, you amateur fucks. As for charm, humour and intelligence, sentient's level of all three can be seen evidenced throughout this carcrash of a thread. Your opinion of me means less and less to me every day; at this point I'm ashamed to share a species with you.

I will. It'll take my mind off your hackneyed OTT prose.

I agree WS, it's time to take this discussion back a few levels of intensity because it's degenerating into name calling and finger wagging. I don't even know how it blew up into this, but my original stance is that protesting wikipedia for giving Seung-Hui Cho his own website is synonymous with supporting censorship, the same way radio personality Don Imus being fired for his racist remarks was a form of censorship (though a complex one, with not only moral but financial elements contributing to the mix).

Political correctness is just another word for censorship. If a viewpoint exists, let it remain. No one should believe they have the moral authority to judge what is a valid opinion and what isn't and when I hear Sentient talking about tearing up society and starting again with his own morals, it's a troubling vision.

No voice should be silenced. Especially when we're dealing with the internet, where space for information is so readily available. The beautiful thing about the internet is that almost anyone can be heard, it really is the least elitist platform one can gain while potential reaching a mass audience. The phrase "winner writes history" is how it's been for thousands of years and with the internet, maybe that doesn't have to remain true forever.

In the end I think it should be up to the individual to decide how he feels about another's viewpoint and I don't believe anyone should have the power to erase another's viewpoint from existence once it's been written.

I don't mind that Sentient has a viewpoint that differs from mine but it was the way he made his first post that started this thread, and his choice of words, that came off as a plea to have this wiki site censored and I took offense to that and stepped in with an objection.

I don't think he actually intended to have it censored (though I believe he would if he had the power) but more to try to make us aware of how bizarre/immoral it is that we are so interested in serial killers when there are much more noble people to invest our time and energy in. I agree it's messed up (though I find it fascinating and somewhat compassionate) the attention we pay to killers, but the only way that will change (and the only way it should change) is when serial killers cease to be, when the conditions that create them disappear.

Until then, and as long as serial killers and perpetrators of horrific crimes exist, I hope they DO draw a lot of attention and interest from the majority, and act as a catalyst to encourage efforts by society to help people from reaching that point.

That's my point. Don't mask the problem, give it all the attention it deserves.

Sentient, your thoughts? I hope we can discuss this peacefully.

During fall 2005, Cho told Koch and Eide that he had an imaginary girlfriend by the name of "Jelly," a supermodel who lived in outer space and who called Cho by the name "Spanky" and traveled by spaceship.[46] Koch also described a telephone call that he received from Cho during the Thanksgiving holiday break from school. During that call, Koch said that Cho claimed to be "vacationing with Vladimir Putin," with Cho adding "Yeah, we're in North Carolina." In response to Cho's claim, Koch told him "I'm pretty sure that's not possible Seung."[47] Because of Cho's troubling behavior, Koch and Eide, who had earlier tried to befriend Cho, gradually stopped talking to him and told their friends, especially female classmates, not to visit their room.[48]

    What the fuck?

American culture seems to have had little to do with his already completely batshit mentality.

I've been saying for days that sentient is both Boss Hogg and Buford T. Justice. Sentient claims to have left HF for good, let's see if he does and if his pals follow suit.

I do see his point of view. I see it very clearly. He hates everything American. Our people, our system, our president (who doesn't?) and our culture (such that it is). There are peaceful, loving, nurturing people here. We just don't spend any time on TV or watching it, so we apparently escape him. With his narrow views, I'm not the least bit surprised.

He's an average run-of-the-mill look-at-me "anarchist". It suits him to believe everyone he doesn't approve of is stupid and that he is privy to some kind of special wisdom - usually about how things are "fucked up" and/or about cool-to-hate figures like the Pope or OMG George Bush - when really he's just howling at the moon like anyone else.

Now someone try to tell me all of Cho's victims put together were that funny.

Um... I thought it was pretty clear that I was saying they weren't as funny. Did you think it was a typo or something?

As for the sentient/Boss-Hogg/Butford thing, it's not so much because they're in threads together; elements of their writing style (the ones that aren't obviously affectations) are very similar. I'm sure he'll deny it, but who cares, he's a tool.

    Haha, fool.

Look, to make it absolutely clear what I meant, I'll re-edit the Cho article so that the names aren't the same:

Now, are you seriously telling me that, regardless of who it's about, you wouldn't laugh if someone told you a story like that?

I don't understand. They laughed at him for doing crazy stuff, and now they're dead. Are you saying that it's their fault they died?

You can revel in the advantage of hindsight if you like, but I guarantee you, you would've done exactly the same. You wouldn't have known he was going to shoot you, and you wouldn't even have known he was mentally ill. To you, he would've been just some crazy loser who told a lot of lies, and you would've laughed and avoided him right up until the day he started shooting. I can say the same about myself and most people I know.

I find so much about it funny. I find the fact that people were trying to blame the incident on gun control (both pro- and anti-gun control people did that), the teacher, the students, literally anything, because the idea that he was just crazy and there was nothing that could've been done. It's funny that people want so desperately to believe that there's something about Cho that makes him different from the slightly weird guy they see on the bus every day that means the guy on the bus isn't going to be the one pointing a gun at their head. It's funny that, when this happens, people like you insist that anyone and everyone except yourself should've known it was going to happen. It's funny that you think you would have somehow made the situation turn out differently if you'd been involved, despite all the evidence that it would've made no difference.

How can you not find that funny?

I personally don't care what you think, I'm not quite that juvenile. Also, posting under multiple IDs on HipForums is, I believe, a terms of service violation and will get you banned. I'm not stupid. Also, your sig pic is disturbing.

The facts of this case are that everyone around Cho knew he was mentally ill (including his parents), they did nothing about it other than to move out of his room and in perhaps one case rearranged his class schedule. If a man is walking down the street with a bandolier of grenades across his chest and he is acting strange, you get away from him and notify the authorities, not laugh it off and ignore him. Because as nacht said, mental illness is nothing to laugh at. The school and local authorities response to the shooting is another matter entirely.

As for the article wiki itself, it's factual. That's the purpose of wikipedia. Get over it.

Ah well, who cares? They're dead now. I mean, obviously we'd all like to dig them up, reanimate their corpses and make them take Crazy Guy Recognition classes, then piss on them and bury them again, but science has come only so far, so we'll have to make do with them being dead.

Also, have mum ready close by, ready withe the Johnson's and a shit scoop. A very biiiig shit scoop.
