Protected or unprotected?!

Most of the more serious STDs (such as AIDS) are transmitted through bodily fluids - primarily blood, which can pass on the infection, or receive it through the open wound, no matter how microscopic it may be. As the anus is very prone to bleeding - especially when it's invaded by a foreign body, such as a penis or a dildo, etc., which is why it is so stereotyped as being a Gay disease, because of the higher likelihood of their partaking in Anal Sex than that of a Straight person.

Condoms are invaluable as a basic 1st line protection, but are not, by any means, guaranteed, as infections can also be passed orally - even by kissing (although the risk level here is obviously much lower). In short, there's no such thing as 'Safe' Sex - just 'Safer' Sex (not counting solo masturbation).

To have anal sex either with or without wearing a condom would mean there would still be a chance of some poop getting on it & the unpleasant smell it causes. It would be cleaner & safer to use protection even if the other person had cleaned themselves out beforehand but there's still that chance of poop that doesn't get removed unless an enema is used beforehand.

 

Unprotected sex with a non-monogamous partner is just suicide, anal or vaginal, but more so for anal.
