you are a smart one, and i agree with you

I just think its best for her to be killed. Believe me, I wouldn't even take note when it happened

BUT, its Illinois, so it won't happen

    thanks Gary.

and I don't mean to sound lofty. I mean shit, I play out minor acts of revenge all the time, even if it's just being curt with someone who's bothering me. but I know that's just vanity, I'm not righting any wrongs.

On average it costs more to execute someone (with having them on death row for the average time ect.) than it does to imprison them for life.

But that is seriously fucked up, seriously. I think they deserve life imprisonment with no opportunity for parol or any additional benefits. In a way though, it could come down to a question of how these people were raised, whether it' simply some depraved sadists. Or an endemic problem within that part of society.

I don't know about this. everyone has their reasons for what they do, but the "product of one's environment" argument can only go so far.

Yeah, I meant to say that it is likely a combination of things that has caused it. Sadistic tendencies + abusive parenting would be my guess.

Actually Finnaz if someone was killed the day after they were sentence to death it would still cost more, cause of the appeals automatically applied when someone is sentences to death. It cost millions for someone to be put to death in this country.

I agree with you tho they should get life imprisonment at the least ( i say that because i hear people getting sentence like for 175 years or some shit crazy). Well the adults should get life imprisonment cause they know better. The teenagers know better to but I'm sure there was def level of manipulations from the adults. The teenagers should get time but I hope they don't get life. They need as someone said above lots of consulting with psychologist, same with the 12 year old. my $.02.

oh sure. no doubt emotional/mental problems and/or a fucked up past caused them to commit this act. I don't believe in evil people, I believe in weak and deluded people. my stance is just that every individual, as an autonomous entity, is entirely responsible for their own actions.

I agree. It really doesn't matter to me how they got to be this way, they are what they are now. No one can really prove how anyone gets to be a psycho, anyway. They can only guess.

Interesting that, thanks for telling me. I'm quite glad we no longer have the death penalty here any more. It's not worth it, there was a program recently where a rather stupid conservative politician tried to see if the death penalty could feasibly work, and he found that it effectively can't. Most of the methods of execution are too flawed and too much money ends up being spent for it to be really justified.

There was a case a while back (early 90s I think) here relatively similar to this. Where two delinquent 10 year olds abducted and battered to death (in some really disgusting ways) a toddler. They were given 8, then 10, then 8 again (they ended up showing remorse) in a juvenile prison. The difference with this one is probably that the 12 year old was pressured into doing this. Whereas the two boys weren't. I think the 12 and 15 year old have a chance of rehabilitation. (albeit a small one with the 15 year old). They may end up doing community service at some point 30 years in the future I suppose.

this is tragic. so much so that i couldnt get myself to read more than what you posted, rather than the original article.

with things of this nature, i'm a bit soft hearted and would likely get quite upsite and feel dirty simply having READ about it....

    terrible situation.

the sad thing is it's almost definitely too late for them anyway. if you give them anything less than life, they'll most likely just come out of jail as bad as now if not worse. yet if you don't give them jail time, they won't even understand that they did anything wrong...

i would be all for further increasing their mom's punishment to account for the fact that she fucked them up beyond repair, thus effectively ending their lives as well...

I can't stand this kind of abuse. It's sickening that people in the community don't notice, or care to intervene when they suspect something. Makes me sick to my stomach.
