No cause of death announced yet. I hope the story doesn't turn out to be something controversial.

He was so young. Why do they die so young?

I can still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing, the first time I ever heard When Doves Cry. Classic songs always hit me that way. I thought it was the most creative and unique thing I had ever heard.

So many of his early hits were so dirty, so incredibly hot. Every young girl I knew wanted him, back in his prime. Everybody got into dirty dancing whenever his hits got played at dances.

I saw him in Memphis back in the 80s. He and his entourage were marching through the lobby of the Peabody hotel. I knew a guy who did audio and got to watch the whole concert from an equipment van in the parking lot. Just when I was getting bored with "New Wave" along comes Prince and a whole new way to put it out. RIP dude!

Shit, I casually glanced over a news headline the other day that he was taken to hospital, just thought it would be exhaustion or something, just assumed he was too young for anything more serious

He was kind of in his peak the same time MJ was, Diamonds and Pearls came out same year as MJ's Dangerous, both of them being those guys last big hit albums....Nevermind also came out the end of that year, and all music did kind of change after that, Nevermind didnt just affect metal, it was just either grunge or hip/hop rap for almost a decade

Anyhoo, I kind of worshipped MJ back then, Prince was kind of an MJ wanna be, even though Prince did have the funkier songs, Raspberry Beret my favourite, one of those ones that just gets stuck in your head and never leaves.

Get off was a masterpiece, probably the funkiest dance track ever, but I only remember one hit after that, Sign o the times, which was just text on the video, then you didnt really seem to hear a peep out of him after that

MJ had the dance moves, and Prince could play every instrument.
