So interested to watch the second debate this evening.

So happy to see Hillary acting with style and grace as Trump snorted and bullied his way thru the event.

I will report on the fact-checking next, but want to start a dialog about the debates...

The format was a blessing. It revealed the calm deliberate demeanor of one candidate vs. the impulsively derisive insulting comments and interruptions from the other candidate.

It obviously isn't a question of who won the debate in one's mind... the election results are what matters.

I did watch the debate although I will admit to switching channels back and forth from the debate to Sunday Night Football.

The first half hour was the equivalent of watching the Jerry Springer show, the rest of the debate did seem to focus on the issues although you could feel the vitriolic hate between the two candidates.

IMHO it was a wash, Donald Trump is not a very good debater and Hillary held her own which is all she needed to do with a lead.

Was Trump on coke? What was with the sniffing?

I didn't hear much in the way of substance coming from either of them.

Trump has been crying for 2 days now. He is still sniffling... :D

Seriously...when Hillary was asked what she meant about a politician's private life not matching their political life...what did she mean?
She went off talking about Abe Lincloln...and I have no idea what she was talking about with that...She had a perfect opportunity to say:

"I may never have picked abortion for a private decision of mine, but I always supported that it is up to each woman or couple to make that decision for themselves, publicly, and I stand by that..." that is one example of a private feeling being different than a public one.

Also, I had to chuckle...disconnect with Mike Pence there, Donald?...Me, too...can't stand that man..

  6. Hard to say who won. Hillary was perhaps more poised, but there's such a thing as being too self-assured. Donald is also too self-assured. Both of them want to seem incredibly self-assured, as though people are really supposed to buy that there are these magical humans out there who know how to take care of billions of people and know how to put the world in perfect order. I call bullshit on both of them.

Highlights: When Hillary deferred to Lincoln, Trump's sniffling, and on the stream I was watching this incredibly close and unintentional close-up of Hillary's face.

I find it disturbing that none of the candiates or politiciansopen with something like... my heart goes out to the people in haiti and in the US right now , who was affected by Hurricane Matthew ...instead, everyone is involved in their own ass wipe....and that is everyone on the political scene this week........

Trump is just an opportunist who lost the battle before he even ran for office, but the fact that he has absconded with the republican party means the war is not over and will get uglier the longer it persists. Nature hates a vacuum, and if the democrats don't start making serious progress with changing the system the republicans will break out the real unhinged candidates like Giuliani next who bring a "kinder gentler" version of Adolf Hitler to American politics.

I don't think she explained this very well but what she was trying to say, imo, is that what you do while in office is not necessarily what you believe in your private life.

For example, you may hold religious views which are contrary to the law of the land, but as an office holder you must uphold the law even if it goes against your religious convictions. If you can't do that you must get out of office.

Further, in the case of Roe vs. Wade, for example, you may frame the defense of that ruling differently depending on whom you are addressing. To one group you may point out that it is in line with the 9th Amendment and avoid any religious discussion. To another you may point out that forcing one religious view on all citizens is to infringe on all religious beliefs as favoritism of one religion is to exclude all religions.

I assume Lincoln would have argued for his Emancipation Proclamation differently to different groups. He believed slavery was morally wrong, but didn't believe the slaves should have the same rights as whites.

Malik Obama, the Kenyan brother of Barack Obama will be attending the debate as Donald Trump's guest. Malik endorsed Trump.

Last time Trump brought some of Bill Clinton's assault victims, as well as the rape victim of Hillary's defendant. Trump takes trolling to a whole new level, and it's awesome!

It's not really. The US is being stolen from the Americans by globalist cronies. But then, so is most of Europe. The people be damned, let them eat cake.

I will skip on any thread where the original OP is clearly bias before a word is said in the debate or comment is said in the thread.

If the people rather eat cake and laugh at their government aren't they kind of giving it away?

I decided not to watch this debate precisely for the entertainment value. I watched some clips of the last debate and found myself laughing at a couple of Trump's sthpid little quips..which is not what politics should be. This isn't am episode of the Apprentice, this is people's lives.

But I also agree with George. Hillary is a good debator amd is professional and poised but it doesnt change the fact that I think she'll support free trade, fracking and get us mired into a long war in the middle east. Along with other policies I don't agree with.
