I consider it a lifestyle more than a "diet" per se. But yeah, there are plenty of people who are in total health who eat this way, and have been doing so for years with no plans of going back to the way they ate before. It's about more than simply weight loss and improved blood markers, though these are some of the things that initially draw people in. I think one of the most beneficial aspects of the ketogenic diet is improved cognitive functioning and mental health. Since I have been in ketosis, I have noticed a total improvement in my cognitive clarity (no more brain fog), and my depression and anxiety have been pretty much eliminated.

Yeah, nuts can pose an issue with omega 3:6 ratios -- especially peanuts, which are technically legumes and not nuts. The best nuts to eat are the fattier ones like macadamias and pecans.

I don't believe in "dieting". Diets imply something that is temporary. It's all about lifestyle.

Diet is the totality of what you ingest.

Prediction: if ketogenic diets become popular, it will be because americans simply add fat to their current carb intakes.

I was referring to "diet" in the context of the person I was quoting and their use of the word.

Also, ketogenic diets are not simply high fat diets, but also low carb. A ketogenic diet cannot be simultaneously high fat and high carb.

I hear it's higher in protein than beef. Grasshoppers too. Grass-fed, free-range of course, lol

I thought you said you stay in ketosis as long as you have enough fat to, once it starts?

You stay in ketosis by eating low carb. Usually less than 50 a day.

I was using the meaning of the word. It's not about lifestyle but food choices and what you prescribe is as I said, making food choices to that extent is a bourgeois habit considering the lack of availability of certain food sources to many segments of the worlds population. Rice alone feeds half the worlds population.

50 carbs is enough carb for like a week, no ketones necessary.

Not sure what you're talking about. If you only eat 50 grams of carbs in a week, you're going to be in a state of ketosis granted you're not consuming excessive amounts of protein. The average western diet is around 250-350 grams of carbs per day, and makes up around half or more of a person's caloric intake.

A "carb", depending what confusing asshole you're talking to, may be 15g of carb.
