iv always found it funny that your all getting piss tested and shit.
If ANY place tried to test here the person would probably quit there and then.
Im pretty sure its illegal here for an employer to test unless they have a valid reason for it

16 year olds acting like...16 year olds

seriously? I am overqualified for my minimum pay. I can guarantee you that I have a higher intelligence, learning capabilities, and better adaptability than most managers at minimum wage places of employment...why would I want to work underneath an idiot on purpose and be paid for shit?

For real, you have no idea what you are talking about and have completely derailed this thread.

I just found out that, in fact, QT does NOT piss test for part time employees - only when they are injured on the job...which is somewhat understandable but still bullshit in that if you fail the test for weed you won't get compensation, you have to go to drug awareness classes, and you have to PAY for those classes ($100 each)...so...if I was in that situation I would quit.

the fact that you're still a minor makes you underqualified for practically anything over minimum.

please, tell me your prior job experience. lets here it mr. i'm-better-than-everyone

I've worked at Best Buy as a cashier and customer service rep.
I work at my family's furniture store every once in a while building furniture, deliveries, upkeep.
I used to do a lot of construction site cleaning for my uncle.

Top that with my plans in college, my statistics in school, and my overall outlook - I'd say I'm way more qualified and more desired than most people in the world for many jobs.

I don't even know why I entertained the demands of a whiny little girl...seriously now - stop sidetracking my thread, please.

Oh and that whole "a minor" deal can be looked beyond (besides it isn't true at all) - but I really don't give I'm turning 18 in May

I'm used to it...I'm just opening the subject to discussion as I haven't seen it on these boards other than "Oh man I have a drug test! HELP!"

Why not talk about how it is a deliberate invasion of privacy?

Yo Twang - you know It's a Beautiful Day, right? My sis worked there for a while and she told me that's the only place she had ever gotten drug tested at - if you passed the drug test they wouldn't hire you. And you best believe I'll be rollin some doobies by the end of this week

No doubt it's a invasion of privacy a very discriminatory one at that.

I like to see all the elected officials have to take one.

I want to see more crackdown (pun intended) on harder drugs. It is just straight up retarded that a job can be in jeopardy because somebody may choose to smoke marijuana as little as once a month yet a meth user can be habitually using - break their stint for a day or two and pass a drug test.

Exactly, you are generally given enough time that if you are doing hard drugs you have time to be clear , except for MJ.

It's total bs that something less harmful than alcohol or even tobacco is targeted.

But smoking only once a month or even maybe 2 times a week , you can pass as long as you water up early on pee day.

You know they made such a big deal about Clinton smoking, yet so little was said about GW Bush cocaine use.. The I didn't inhale thing was pretty tacky though.

Word - I think that there should be a general agreement with people in control (employers control our lives more directly than most other authoritative figures) that MJ is NOT harmful...D.A.R.E. needs to attempt real education - perhaps stigmas will be lost.

I probably will quit a job that asks me to piss test when I know I will fail it - if I'm at a point in my life where I have other job opportunities I will still quit even if I will pass.

I think if more people had that kind of refusal to give such private information the trend would go away.

I don't know, I don't think you will find enough people to take that stand. Funny in a country that says it so much about freedom and human rights.

When I was in Vancouver at the New Amsterdam Cafe at 4:20 and it was fire em up time, it was like the first time I really felt free and I'm a old fucker :D

See you won't though, you're not going to give up a good job because they make you take a piss test if you can pass it, at 17 it doesn't matter so much but eventually making sure you get a paycheck at the end of the week is going to become rather important

And shouldn't methheads be entitled to the same privacy?

I said if I'm at a point in my life with more job opportunities I probably would.

Methheads should have the same privacy, but as long as they are looking for drugs in peoples' systems then there should be some person discovering a way to detect harder drugs in peoples' bodies from a longer period of time since use.

The thing with harder drugs, the use/dependency can sometimes be visually noticed on the person...so...whatever. I'm just bitching because it's fucking annoying taking piss tests

Hard drugs or not, it should still be based on work ethic. Your personal lifestyle should'nt be forced up in the workplace. It should only be when there is an obvious problem that an employer should be looked into...well it is like that here I guess but it should be like that everywhere
