Who loves a pound shop? They're everywhere now, dare I say it they have become a Great British Tradition? When I smoked I got all my rizlas and filters from there. I tried their vape liquid, but it was pretty harsh on the throat. Shower gel for a quid. If you're hungry you can get a sarnie for a quid or less. Light bulbs. Pizza cutter. Kitchen scissors. Bargain. When I think of Britain I think of curry houses, chippies, betting shops and pound shops.
Love them.. dont forget a DVD or a book.. sweets, bread, ham.. gardening season now.. cant help yourself.. love em!
When we went two Mays ago there was a place or two like that near East Croydon where we stayed. I liked that vibe. Not everything was terribly expensive. I think I needed hair gel and found some at a bargain beauty supplier.
is this slang for a whorehouse? i can't say i dislike the concept, but i've never really spent time in one myself.
I'm assuming that a pound shop is the English equivalent of what Americans call a dollar store. I don't venture into them very often--I found that the deals offered there often aren't as good as you think they are. Plus, at least here, they tend to sell questionable food products and cheap plastic crap that was probably made in a Vietnamese sweat shop. Actually, one of my local "pound shops" sells steak and frozen lobster for a dollar. I can't help but wonder who buys it.
There glasses are cheap if you need them. I bought hubby spare ones for each room, he needs his glasses to find his glasses.lol
I buy my 3-in-1 shower gel from the .99 cents only store here in the states. Underarm deodorant too! Beats the heck out of paying $10.00 otherwise...
We had three Pound based shops in my local precinct:= Pound World - which has gone - bust(?) Pound Land - where one's pound does not ensure a purchase, and Pound Stretcher - whos pound has for a while for some considerable time - still for those of low income is the only affordable option
