Key word in bold bro. Some people just plain dont like the effects of smoking weed, period. Then there are those who enjoy some effects, but others which are less then desirable outweight the ability to enjoy it properly.

In an effort to avoid sounding like someone trying to get into a weed knowledge dick measuring contest, allow me to just say that I have at all times access to various strains of it that many people unfortunate enough to live in a place where it is not sold legally or in abundance of variance would probably drool over. I have friends who are growers and have had quite possibly well into the several hundreds of strains in my time, and while I haven't had 10,000 different strains of it, you can only smoke so much god damned weed until you eventually get to the point where you say, effectively, either "Yes, I enjoy smoking weed" or "No, I don't, it makes me uncomfortable".

So I for one am not dismissing or ignoring your point, but am simply one to whom this does not neccessarily apply, at least not in any make or break sense. I just do not care for the stuff, it interferes with my preferable states of mind, including sobriety.

Well, that 'key' word you bolded applied to the difference a specific strain has on different people... as in the difference you and I have smoking the same weed...

The difference in bewtween strains, growing, harvesting and curing methods is HUGE...

As for your personal preference, I didnt say a thing about what anyone preferred or what their opinion of pot was.

I said I found it funny that people blame all weed for causing them to be paranoid, when the simple fact is that all weed does NOT cause paranoia or anxiety. Some strains combat paranoia and anxiety.

...in everyone, though? This is my point. Not all weed makes me paranoid, I agree with you here, but ALL weed does makes me uncomfortable.

Yeah, well what can I say... I haven't smoked all strains of weed... I know that almost none cause me to freak out, I know most do cause it in another person close to me... I know that some strains that are specifically bred for people with anxiety issues do not CAUSE paranoia or anxiety.

That has nothing to do with whether or not YOU feel paranoia when you smoke them...

I am pretty sure that considering you are convinced all of them do, that you could smoke oregano and get paranoid if you thought it was pot.

I don't know , there is something to the paranoia feelings , after a lengthy break from mj.. I too get the paranoid feelings smoking after years of abstinence from it . To where pot it's no longer enjoyable to me .

Maybe Tom is right and it is a mental thing , I don't know but it's there . And I've read posts from a bunch of people who have the same thing . And always after a break in using it . Brain chemistry change , maybe ? I don't know , but it's real .

Hash works for me , with none of the paranoia bullshit . I don't know why , you would think it's the same , yet it works for me .

Pressed rat , give it a shot .

Smoking too much too often is a big no-no. Strain affects it, but if you smoke a few bowls a week and no more, I guarantee you'll be fine.

and while different strains probably do have different effects . Most people don't have the luxury of getting different strains , or access to them . They get what comes around .

I am not trying to be insulting by saying that if someone thinks it will, it likely will...

    That is not a slam...

If you believe (as in you are really convinced) a sugar pill is acid, you will likely get stoned off of it, just as if it was acid.

    It's called the placebo effect;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placebo

basically, its a case of, if you beleive it, it will be true for you...

Me? I could likely smoke weed that 999 out of 1000 swear causes extreme paranoia and shrug it off, because that is my belief about it...

Just as if someone truly belive smoking pot will make them paranoid, chances are it will...

The 'munchie' phenomena' is also the same thing... if you think smoking pot will give you the munchies, chances are it will. Some strains do have a settling effect on the stomach though and combined with the general expectation (in our society) that you get the munchies, people who can't eat, often can after smoking....

However, ignoring that whole aspect... it doesn't change the fact that unless you have smoked ALL weed, you shouldnt assume that all weed will do something to you... That isn't to say that people who choose not to and use the effects they have experienced to justify quitting should start smoking again....

It means they shouldn't make assumptions that ALL of anything, is or will do anything, simply because of some of it does...

Agreed, Tom. I've never had paranoia from marijuana. Then again, I've never suffered from anxiety problems, so it could simply be a matter of genetics/predisposition.

I read somewhere some time ago that the American army has developed a strain of cannabis that doesn't make you paranoid - they designed that element out.I don't know if this is true or not,but it would be way cool for me 'cause pot tends to make me a bit para too.I need to be tucked away in some cosy crib before I light up.Also I think that as you get older and lose somewhat of your innocence and clutter up more of your mind with junk psychoactive drugs can amplify that. Also of course these days some weed is very strong and could fuck up even the most hardened of psychonauts.I like home-grown bnest myself.

If being older and having a cluttered mind made you paranoid, I'd walk around constantly in tears. :D

Bro, I said that because you made your point with quite the assumption. I've sold hundreds of sheets of LSD over this past summer alone. I've smoked pot for 6 years straight before I, for the most part, gave it up just over 5 years ago. I dont need you to explain what placebo is to me lol, and I believe I can consider myself intelligent enough to know the difference between weed and oregano. I've been sold bunk acid before by people I at one point in time trusted, about 10 years ago, and even then at the tender age of 16 I knew what was up. If you feel like enlightening others, please, by all means go ahead, I am not trying to interfere with that. But dont make assumptions like "If you smoked oregano and believed it was weed" &c, its not the best way to conduct a conversation. I'm not saying it was a slam, but it that it was an assumption, and an unfair one at that.

I think it boils down to a simple measure of preference. Human beings are very complex and everyone's genetics and environmental upbringing equips them with a unique take on experiences.

So, inevitably, there are NO universal opinions. There is not ONE thing on earth that EVERY person will enjoy. I don't see why it is so hard to grasp that some people don't like Cannabis. And why it seems to offend people confuses me even more. It is not like those people who don't like it are saying to everyone in here: "You know, Cannabis makes you feel like you're going nuts. You should all stop now." They are just answering the question raised by the thread in an HONEST way.

As for me, I lie in the middle. I certainly don't hate the effects of Cannabis, but it definitely is NOT something that I want to experience very often. So, you see, there are shades of grey to the situation. You couldn't lump me into the "Doesn't like" or "Does like" categories. When I am high on Cannabis, I simultaneously enjoy and hate the experience. That is very possible to experience.

So please take into consideration that all people bear a unique genetic slate and are exposed to a unique set of environmental upbringings. So, logically, it is very straight-forward to state that there is not one item, be it concrete or abstract, that will be universally hated or liked by every person on the planet. That's all. I am not trying to 'stir up the pot (no pun intended)' but to just offer a logical perspective.

And for the record, just to elaborate a bit, I will on occasion ingest pot orally, at most four to five times a year, when a snack is prepared with a high potency Indica dominant strain, and the discomfort is dramatically diminished. It still interrupts my general temperament and I only partake for celebratory reasons.

There is no assumption there... bro

I will change what I said though... I KNOW you would get paranoid, as it is a good bet that you act the same way you are here...

Just because you want to be paranoid and assume that I was saying that you would believe it was weed, doesn't make it fact... bro

What I said was quite clear for anyone who is not so trapped in paranoia that they have to falsely create attacks on themselves.

Might I suggest you go to dictionary.com and look up the word IF, and see just where it is that you have made an error in believing it somehow means "you are so clueless you would believe oregano was pot"

It meant.... bro... that if you believe something, it has a good chance of effecting you as if it was true.

Now... If you wish to continue to believe you are being attacked, do so...

Well seems we are bragging about dick size... oh I mean, weed consumption... I ingest the equivalent of 4-6 grams a day of weed and smoke another 1/8 oz a day... everyday...

Yeah, you really gotta watch your consumption for sure, because weed sure will make you paranoid...
