I don't think this is an official "thing" yet, but it seems to me that in the very near future, young people are going to start rejecting sexual labels, because they won't see their relevance. They will increasingly associate sexuality labels and gender labels with the thinking of previous generations. They're now learning to see sexuality as plastic and individualized. You may feel straight tonight and gay tomorrow night. Why limit yourself to a label? That's so goddamn 1990.

I do understand the logic behind it. I've heard many stories of straight men falling for ONE other man, and just that man. Being gay for one person. I think it's kind of the same thing as this phenomenon.

Sex (the act of it) consists of two key emotions, I think. Lust and love. Sometimes, one can go without the other. So if you LUST for a person of the same sex all of a sudden, even though you don't generally identify as gay, it would seem logical to just go for it, even if it's just once.

I believe this is also the reason that bisexuality is way more normal than most people seem to think. Lust is hormones. Hormone levels rise and fall, and if they rise hard enough, they might just go a little out of your usual bounds and do something crazy to the way you think about that hot dude/girl that just walked by. Depending on the situation, you might just start feeling attracted to the same sex simply because your hormone levels are so high. (Not claiming this is fact, I'm not a scientist, but it's what seems logical to me.)

I hope men can break out of their masculine straight jackets and explore like women do, without it becoming too trendy because trendy sucks. Just ask bi women like myself.

And either one can come first. In my case, with guys, lust always comes first. With women, the friendship always comes first. I always end up wanting to fuck all my friends. But that's just me.

I can say that this is already starting to happen. I know a lot of young people who define their sexuality as fluid, much as you describe. I see myself this way, to an extent, and the labels do seem somewhat unimportant to me.

so it's still a little too new for dude111.

i don't know, i haven't really seen any of this. i mean, people don't go around announcing their sexuality or anything like that (at least not most people), but it seems like everyone i know, including the young folks, still has a definite sexual preference.

of course, i'm in a small town so we are 5 to 10 years behind the times after all.

It will happen to some degree with gender too. Just imagine how silly some of today's debates about Bruce Jenner will someday seem to people who are ten years younger than you.

Online, pansexuality, fluid sexuality, gender fluid, pangendered, and a lot more non definitions are in play already.

Thing is, humans need labels as shorthand. Not as limits, but a general sign of compatibility.

Well most of the World will still consider Bruce Jenner to be mentally ill. They'll also find it rather disturbing that his illness is promoted as a "cool lifestyle".

These people get a thrill out of shocking people. Shock fetishism.

Jenner is fairly old and ill. Most young people think or rather KNOW he's a complete nut. Not everyone's sense of values will cave in under the brainwashing bombardment of "transsexual is cool", "pan gender crossdressing is 2015's key trend" etc etc. This isn't clothes fashion we're talking about. Altho sadly there ARE people who invent these weird things as if they're designing a t-shirt.

Americans don't live our personal lives to please people in other countries.

No. You just use your PUBLIC lives to ram bizarreness+sickness down other countries throats.
Then when they call you out, you have a hissy fit.

(And when that fails you often decide to bomb them/cause coups or sponsor terror organisations against them).

I'm calling you out on calling yourself Thor, a fictional god from an ancient culture. Most of the world's traditional religious cultures wouldn't approve. Will you have a fit, tell them to go fuck themselves, or simply ignore it as most of us would?

Oh good god Thor. Why does it matter to anyone if someone is a transexual? Bruce Jenner is an annoying celebrity, ill give you that but in general I have a really hard time understanding why people give two shits if someone is transexual or not.

Transexualism isn't even some modern American fad. It predates America by centuries in certain Asian countries.

More on topic, I do think young people view sexuality as fluid or on a spectrum. I know the majority of my girlfriends dont entirely identify as straight. Even if none of us has followed through with it, we have all certainly entertained the idea of sexing it up with a woman.

It's funny how you mention shock fetishism, yet you're the only one who's actually shocked. Everyone else thinks it's quite normal.

Whats most threatening to males, especially of the same age, is Jenner does look better as a woman than as he recently did as a man a couple years ago.

With all the botox and shit, as a man in his 60s looked very differenf ti when he was younger, was looking strange as a man, very plastic.

Then there is why all the botox, the sum effect of being married with too many daughters for decades, that erosion of masculinity that can happen by doing what everyone else told him he was.supposed to do, get married have kids

Its less scary to think its a disease isnt it, rather than thinking, well, spend enough time around enough estrogen......well, you are probably headed that way yourself

Slavery, ritual sacrifice and paedophilia all predate America.

Are you going to promote those to kids too?

Jenner is seriously ill. He is mutiliating his body, causing hardship and shame to his family, and unsettling the minds of the vulnerable. He's also trying to rack the money in with this sickness, without any regard for others.

I reckon its 50:50 that this nut will kill himself. I read about a shocking case of a male schoolteacher of young kids who did the same. Imagine those poor kids having to listen to the aggressive promotion of this man's illness in class.

I really pity people who treat these things like some sort of fashion show with "the latest trends".
