    So that they can hunt rabbits and the like even when they get in their holes. Dachs means badger in german so they were probably used to hunt badgers as well. After all:

    We will shutdown the site and work on reconverting the old posts again.

    This may happen tonight or tomorrow morning.

    It's supposed to go much faster this time, so keep your fingers crossed! :)

    Well no luck so far... Waiting for a response from tech support...

    And it didn't go any faster. I still estimate it would take 100 hrs to convert the 7.6 million posts here.

    Also tried getting the 50,000 missing PMs back, no luck there either.

    I found out the real problem is their conversion script which keeps restarting over from scratch every time.

    If I can set it up so we can do that without taking the site off-line, it would help big-time!

    Are there any of us crazy tech heads out there who could help you with that 100 hours part of your chores?

    Just curious.

    Or would that create a security issue.

    If I had thought about it before the conversion I could have deleted a lot of my old PM's that I probably would never go back to anyway. Sorry I did not think of it.

    Good news! Looks like we've finally figured out what went wrong with the conversion, so we should be able to get the missing data soon!

    Hang in there folks! The site won't need to go down for long this time either, but it will take some time to process all the posts & PMs again.
