They are both important but if you are someone who makes yourself happy it is a lot easier to get people who make you happy to be with you.

 

I am definitely happy with who I am. It is other people who think I must be miserable because I am not like them.

 

There will always be other people who dislike you for not being or acting the same as them. It is pointless to conform to such people of course to make yourself happy. Sometimes it is easy or convenient to do so but it will cause hypocrisy. Likewise there will also always be people that will trigger us because of their particular differences, but this should not affect our happiness.
