Did you know his shoes were stolen (before he was robbed, beaten, tied to a fence, and left to die on a cold October night)? And his killers thought it was okay to do this to a human being - because they had been conditioned by society (and religion) to hate homosexuals. In the wrong hands, the Holy Bible is more dangerous than a loaded gun. In the right hands (think Mother Teresa and Thomas Merton) the Holy Bible is never used as a dangerous weapon to harm and hate other human beings: It is used as a guide to teach us how to love one another. QP
i would add the caveat never consciously used as a weapon... i'm sure mother teresa sincerely believed that what what did was for the betterment of mankind, even those practices and beliefs which caused indirect or direct suffering.
Good point. I guess I will forever admire her because she really did ultimately come to the aid of the poorest of the poor (instead of just talking about it) when her own church did everything in its power to stop her. That takes a lot of guts and faith. And even though she did not believe in abortion (she was a Catholic), she never abandoned unwanted babies and children. She fed, clothed, housed and loved them as best she could. I wish I could say the same for the Pope (past and present). Her hands were tied by the church, but she still found a way to truly help and love people. QP
Lovin' all the awesome pics and quotes, peeps. Here's a little Valentine for you to show my appreciation. QP
Amen to that! QP P.S. A close family member (totally conservative) stopped speaking to me after I informed her that I did not think Sarah Palin was a genius.
