Oh yes very much so. For me the movies really did open up a new chapter in my life. It sounds a bit stupid to say but it was just one of those works of art, or series of works of art, which had such a big impact on my life and I've had times where I'd just really strongly have Lord Of The Rings upon my conciousness: the strory, the characters, the emotions, the passions and everything that Tolkien and all of the people involved with the movie adaptation put into making it what it is. When you listen back to the commentary and interviews (or at least I listen back to it) on the DVDs I can so relate to what they're saying even though I had no involvement whatsoever in the creation of it. There's some kind of weird chemistry going on there I think. Yeah, I see you spotted the DVD case sat on the mixing console then heh. Did you also notice the cup with The One Ring painted onto it?
Hey showmet, i have a bottle of Jim Beam too and my workstation is kinda neat, but thats cos its family use, not just mine. I bet all your messy workstations are because only you use them...
Heehee yep I saw both... I too am a Lord of the Rings manic I have endless cups and both versions of the film on DVD .... of all three and the extended ones are the collectors boxsets. I sooo relate... Lord of the Rings just takes you on the whole journey with them and you jump in places you know that if your faced with, you would jump... such a whirlwind adventure. Loves it! Fantastic... although not seen the extended version of Return of the King yet ... but I will. I felt so sad when it came to an end I think I was purely crying at the end of Return of the King because the trilogy was over and the journey had finished.... *sigh*

I was going to get it on VHS so it would be more in line with my five (well 6, if I include the animated version) other LOTR VHSes but it wasn't in the shop so I got the DVD version. I'm glad I did because the extras are really fascinating, especially the footage where they're just filming the last ever scenes. It's a real sea of emotions. I fell like my fantasy film is like 90% complete now and there doesn't seem much left for me to explore. I can only hope that an adaptation of The Hobbit is made and then of course I don't own any Tolkien books at all yet!!!
Oooo apparently The Hobbit is being made in like 2008 though by Peter Jackson The animated Lord of the Rings rocks... and the animation is so much different from anything I have seen before. Its just an amazing piece of cinematography. Oooo I have a Tolkein book.. well it is an un-authorised book about the books, like where he derrived some of the ideas and where he got inspiration for the language of Elvish (derrived from the Welsh language) and loads of other stuff... grand!
