    Awesome!

Seems there's lots of other space for farmland still. Superstitious asians paying mad money for grinded up rhino horn is the real threat. If it goes on like this there won't be any rhinos or elephants anymore decades before humans might need their space for farmland.

I saw a bunch of protesters demanding higher working wages today. They were on the Connecticut River bridge between White River Junction, VT and West Lebanon, NH. There were many signs, but THIS one was the best! [IMG]

AC mains, not quite a clean sine wave, definitely some harmonic distortion.

Me being silly, decided to lick the probe, where does this signal come from, me? I promise there's not another probe hooked up and I'm not touching anything either (it's not a trick, apparently I really pick up AC mains signals)... see previous picture, it's the same signal, that is actually the AC mains waveform. I think Nikola Tesla was onto something ... :D :p
Same exact waveform, same frequency, what else could it be?

And, this is the "modified sine wave" from my UPS power supply on battery ... doesn't look like any sine wave I've ever seen. Pretty horrible looking waveform really, but switching power supplies don't seem to care, they do far worse things to the power before they clean it up and output clean, nearly ripple free DC. I don't know about AC motors and such though, such a thing might cause them to draw too much current and overheat (this thing is designed for running electronics, not motors)

Sorry for the bad picture quality, it's hard to see the detail of the waveforms because the phosphor on the o-scope is so bright that it plays tricks with the camera (and my eyes too, i swear everything flickers for a bit after staring at it). You can see it better in certain parts, which is actually the phosphor still glowing after the beam has already left that particular spot.

Edit: if you turn the TIME DIV knob there's some really high frequency stuff in the AC mains, that I assume may be radio signals or something coupled into the power line, or perhaps just high frequency noise. Not sure tbh. Oh and I absolute love that phosphor green. It brings back such nostalgia when i was a child, with the first at the time obsolete computers I ever did use that had a green monochrome monitor and wondering how the floppy disk could make that possible. Love that color, and you can't get it on a modern LCD display which is a shame. Sure this scope is probably older than me btw too.
