''Post A Picture of Anything'' Thread

Just dug up an old pic of the Eastern toilets found in Asia and I have seen a few of them in France and Italy in the '70s. I prefer them to the Western sit on toilets - especially in a nasty public restroom because only your feet touch anything.

BTW, if you notice the water spigot - ppl in the East do not wipe with paper they use water to clean themselves.
(They think we are barbarians for using paper - this was before Wet Wipes were invented)

On a French campsite where I once stayed they had a corrugated iron version of this. Really just a metal sheet with a hole over a pit.

We talked a while, about India and if it had changed since I was there in 1975.

These I believe are some chips by Texas Instruments, some type of embedded microcontrollers IIRC, probably reject wafer. I used to have 2 silicon wafers given to me by my 5th grade teacher (dont recall which).

the other week on radio China they talked about the advantages and disadvantages of squatter toilets. It was interesting, most thought that they are more hygienic than western toilets. But the western guy living in China said that he would use a squatter toilet only in case of emergency, because he fears to shit his trousers. A Chinese woman, who lived in the west for some time, said she would prefer western toilets, because her muscles changed while living in the west, so squatting became hard work. The reason for discussing this topic on radio was a guy who used a western toilet in squatter style. The bowl broke and he injured himself seriously. That's tragic, but I laughed quite a bit .

to be honnest I guess I would need a manual to use a squatter toilet in the right way and with a bit of dignity. I can understand that people who have used them all their life have some trouble using western style toilets. We had guys from Indian outsourcing companies who had trouble to understand what the water flushing is good for.

I heard of a group of dutch students going to a country where they don't throw the toiletpaper in the toilet bowl to get flushed because it wouldn't flush properly. They left a trail of clogged toilets there :-D

 

So Where Where They Supposed To Throw It...... :yikes: ..????

In a bin for that exact purpose. Toilets were designed just to flush turds apparently, not a shitload (pun intended) of toiletpaper. I think the country was Latvia or a neighbouring country.

I heard about that on the radio. Haha, just kidding. But I dimly remember a report on shortwave radio from a country I forgot. They complained exactly about that problem.
