Well, I retired abruptly - next Thursday is my last day at work, and they no longer give gold watches to ppl who have worked for 15 years. But, I did get a used HP Laserjet 1200 printer that I have been using for the last couple of years.

Seems the company has no use for a printer not on the printer contract network and since I invested over $80 for toner to get it usable for my own two-sided essays, they said I could take it with me.

So, this morning I spent time cleaning out junk on my printer stand, moving the shelf and now I have two printers. The HP Deskjet 3600 for color printing, which requires thick 24 pound wt. paper to print 2-sided and the Laserjet, which can print 2-sided on regular 20 pound wt. paper when I only need greyscale.

 

The Runcorn Bridge from the River Mersey Bed The railway bridge on the RHS was built in 1868 and is named the Ethelfleda or Brittania Bridge it was built on the site of the Saxon Queen Ethelfleda's castle that was built there in around 914 (she was the elest daughter of Alfred the great ) and she was a great Warrior !
Its great to stand there and realize the history that surrounds us all

 

I like that too, and medieval shit is one of my weaknesses in this regard Anything left of that castle?

 

Unfortunately not as the railway bridge was built on top of it :yikes:
I suppose they had different priorities in the 1860s and were themselves making history with the railways

 

Yes, happened in so much places. Frankly it is amazing there is still so much older stuff left, as in former centuries we used to recycle everything, with little sense of preservation or historic value. But I am quite fond of that typical style from the industrial age too. It has it's own special look and vibe.

I like castle ruins a lot as well! Remnants are better than nothing at all. And they often create quite a unique kind of scenery on itself
