Who knows, maybe they fled.
One of them was a professor and the other two are students (can we admire the regal here on the one on the left, wow).

 

Maybe those students were able to work in their field of study for more than a decade! In Afghanistan even. Who knows...

Such pics of like 60 years ago are so important when we see how much (less) insight most westerners have in these places.

Also recommended : novels by Khaled Hosseini which all take place in Afghanistan. Such a fascinating country and so sad what happened to it

 

Sidenote: have you read anything by Kader Abdolah already? Iranian but still, interesting for the same reasons. If you forgot about him I want to recommend his books again because I'm certain you will love them as much as I do!

I like reading about the middle east (and Afghanistan and Iran, since we always discuss what middle east exactly includes xD)

Well, actually the only reason it's gets reported as a gay man is becuase at the time when asked by investigators why she, Hylton, said he was a h*mo was becuase when she stuck the metal bar up his rectum he twitched.
