This is a monkey. I am curious about his nose. From a biological standpoint, I can't imagine why his nose evolved that way.
Here are some gorillas too with their caretakers. The gorilla on the left seems heavy to me. At any rate, I love these gorillas; and chimpanzees are also neat.
This is literally Michael Jackson's (RIP Michael Jackson) chimpanzee, called Bubbles. He is alive, and lives in the Center for Great Apes in Florida. Why so many apes you say? I feel like if we're being open and honest with ourselves, we usually have an affinity for these animals. That's why. And I feel an affinity to the members on our site, so I am sharing the pictures to increase the validity of our interactions here.
That is a Proboscis monkey. I saw a documentary in which it was said that the huge nose was for mating rituals. It serves as an echo chamber, amplifying the mating call. The narrator said that the bigger nosed monkeys had more females in their harem. Big noses are, therefore, sexy to the female proboscis monkeys! They do resemble Jimmy Durante, though... "Goodnight, Mrs Calabash, wherever you are"...
