This reminded me of Zuma beach, which is near Malibu or north of Malibu, south of Los Angeles' county line with Ventura county on the Pacific Coast Highway in California... Anyway, the stingray population one year in Santa Monica was kind of weird - there were many many many stingrays, so you do not want to walk around when they're like that. They'll sting you. So I split. Around the time I quit surfing I actually landed on one I suspect... Some kind of rash was on my back, which I had landed on. And I thought maybe a stingray rubbed it's venom on me somehow without actually jabbing me... Back to Zuma, I remember one time I was hanging out in the surf about ankle-deep. There were a couple of people around, and it was glorious - just clear as heck, like in the picture. It's a sand bottom - no rocks. It was cool. And then... leopard sharks! They're not very big - they're smaller than your arm. I think there was more than one, but I can't remember. This would have been 2011 or something. I surprised I don't remember more clearly. I've seen dolphins too, but not in clear water. Dolphins are super used to people, but they're not exactly friendly. One time they were coming close but bumping into us and stuff. They're not totally nice, but they aren't shy.
