Downtown Springfield, MA. Taken January 1, 2020. Minimal snow here. None was on the ground for me south of Hartford (CT). Peter Pan is the locally-owned innercity bus company which serves the Northeast US. They compete with Greyhound, among others.
This rink was set-up on the south end of a courtyard, associated with the MGM Springfield casino. The castle looking former armory was directly behind me. 1- Temporary skating rink. Not sure if they ever tarp the top section if it rains. 2- Southern side of the former armory "castle" That and the motorcycle ad was directly behind me when taking the rink picture. 3- The northern face of the "castle". The pic of me in the red coat was in front of that big tree.
Now I knew more about this Armory. The 2011 tornado they mentioned went right through the south end of downtown. Consider that what struck on June 1, 2011 is quite rare for much of southern New England.
Looking south out my window in central Connecticut on January 4, 2014. It was around 8 AM. It was a balmy -4 F (-20 C).
