i love brazillian music samba bossa nova y jazz brazilleno...a long time ago stan getz , an american jazz artist recorded his best work in brazill with local people ....when i was a lil kid flora purim airto morieras gilberto gill...we liked....in boston we used to see theese guys ...azimuth ....jazz brazileno.... ?what is like portugese music like?......have you ever herd caribean rythmos.............merengue {gallope} , bachata from dominican rep. ....bombas y plenas....purto rico....guagancones guarachas ..cuba ...salsa cumbia ......or soka calipso rock stedy rege...jamaika...en el caribe la musica estn africanisado otra ves....primer ves es norteafricano influencia de iberia mesclado con gitano{india}y de los europenos{visagoths} {celtos}tambien judios y basques...historia es un mapa de handansas!
Os Mutantes. One of the best South American bands, ever. If there's any way you can buy one of the albums, get "Jardim Elétrico". Not your typical samba, though (fortunately).
I like what I've heard, mostly just bossa nova stuff like Antonio Carlos Jobim and, even if he's American, Stan Getz. Oh, and the Tribalistas, I picked up thier recent album because it got a lot of good press up here and I've really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone for listing off your picks, I'll definatly check out some of this stuff
I love Os Mutantes' "A divina comedia ou ando meio desligado"! I recommend "Hey boy", "Ave Lucifer" and "Meu refrigerador nao funciona".
