I think the guy rubbing one off was the nut job... Why would you turn porn up that loud?! In spite of the embarrassment, I would have to thank the guy for his concern... I mean, he was the only one in the story doing an honorable thing.
I disagree... Bush tried to justify his claims of going into Iraq by saying that it was over WMD's, but when they didn't show up, he changed his story. This shows, he is not willing to admit when he is wrong or we would have been out of Iraq in a very short time. Or rather, we would have never went in. On the contrary, the guy went in with the sole purpose of having to make a split second desicion (unlike Bush), he admitted he made a mistake (unlike Bush), and his intentions were admirable (unlike Bush). Bush would obviously have much to gain from going into Iraq, being supported by lobbyists and such, as well as having stock in oil, and personal vendettas for his family, so his intentions are unclear to us, and most likely not for the right reasons, because there are many evil dictators out there, even worse than Saddam. Again, in contrast, there was only one supposed rape going on, and the guy's intentions can't really be questioned. Reason being, he would have absolutely nothing to gain. He thought he was helping someone. Point blank. So I completely fail to see how what this guy did is anything like what Bush did. This guy did cause property damage, and, AT THE MOST, he should be forced to pay for the damages. But jailtime? That is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. What would you have done if you thought you heard someone beign raped? I can only hope I would be able to be half as brave as that guy. To be able to risk my own safety for another person. The fact that no one was there is beside the point. The point is, that the guy's heart was in the right place. Had there really been a women up there, then he would have been doing the right thing, and no one would question it. The only thing is, some guy had his porn up too loud and it undermined the guy's efforts. Sorry bout the guys door, and his embarrassment, but he should watch the volume anyway. No one likes a noisy neighbor. Saying that because there was not a person in there so it makes the guys actions wrong (while you know most of you would say they were justified if someone really WHERE in the apartment being raped) is parrallel to saying that the ends justify the means. It is saying that he should only be punished because the results didn't pan out well.
Do you really think he was solely helping someone? Bush caused property damage and he should be forced to pay for the damages. But jailtime? HAH! That is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. What would you have done if you thought you heard someone being bombed? Get it?
No, I don't. I see too many differances. I DO think the guy was solely helping someone. What makes you think he wasn't? Or maybe I missed something in reading it, so maybe you could enlighten me? And I already stated, I don't see a parallel ar all between the two. Bush SHOULD have to pay for the property damage. But he should also have to pay for the lives he has taken, he should have to pay for the lies he has told to cover up, he should have to pay for all the people he has spied on via the patriot act... Get it? Bush has commited a lot of criminal acts. This guy, if any, only commited 2 or three. Breaking and entering and threatening someone with a deadly weapon. No assult, and he sure didn't kill anyone or lie.
"The neighbor later played for police the part of the DVD he believed Van Iveren heard downstairs." That is the funniest part of the whole article! I can just imagine some horny cop saying "Umm, we are gonna need to see this video." They burn pot after drug raids to destroy it, they watch porn to prove that someone is innocent of rape, and they get to drive fast to catch someone who is also driving fast (although the cop is going faster to catch up...)... Man, no wonder people become cops!!!
Yeah... and they get away with it. But... that reminds me of the herbal bust on Reno 911, where Dangle starts playing guitar like a mother sitting around a campfire of marijuana. ... then it shows them all baked off their asses later. I don't think it gets any better than The Fillmore They used to throw a couple pounds of bud on a Hibachi in that place, during Allman Brothers concerts.
No. (haha.. I thought I was hijacking someone's thread for a second, but it's mine anyway... coolio and whatnot ps... I miss that guy. He was like a snoop knockoff) But tonight, I watched Flags of Our Fathers (directed by Clint Eastwood) and Running With Scissors. Augusted Burroughs is my favorite author... and the movie is equal to the book, except it left out one person who lived in their house that was only in one scene and was neither flat or static... more like cameo But... Running With Scissors is my favorite book, so I'm a bit biased. I wonder if IMDB is affiliated with the creators of youtube or google... because they redid the IMDB site the same time as Youtube put the new rating stars and whatnot on their site. But.. anyway... http://imdb.com/title/tt0439289/ I'm about to watch Rolling Kansas, toke one, and fall asleep. I have to go out of town again tomorrow.
my dad saw the allman brothers once and he said greg allmans rodie was looking for some mesculine for greg and my dad and his friend had some so they sold it to him. And he said threw out the whole concert he was dipping his finger in it.
Ahaha... yeah, that sounds like Gregg to me. He's been known to have some VA roots. His dad was murdered in Norfolk when he lived here.
my familiy did'nt move to VA until I was 3. My dad pretty much grew up on the coast of various places in the north east. He hitched everywhere though and did a lot of stuff.
You would thank someone for kicking in your door and threatening you with a sword? Besides, the guy was in his own appartment, he has every right to turn up his porn as loud as he wants. (noise complaints not withstanding)
Actually, I would. Becuase I always look at people's intentions over the result. Or at least, I try to. The guy's heart was in the right place. Yes, he has every right to watch porn, but he doesn't have any right to rape someone. That is the whole point of what I am saying. If he were right, he would be praised. Since he is wrong, he is condemned. I see no logic. It is a friggen double standard, and I CAN'T STAND double standards! Seems people just want to be on the side that's winning!!! I would thank the guy, because if there was a woman, and it were my mom, or sister, or daughter (if I had one) or female friend being raped, I would be thankful for a guy with a crusader's sword! Can no one see this?! I feel like I am trying to teach describe a comic strip without pictures! And yeah, he has every right to crank up his porn too. I am sure he was violating some noise ordinance, but I don't know that for sure, and it is really beside the point. The bottom line is, stuff happens. It isn't ALWAYS someone's fault! Why are people always so quick to point fingers?! Why does everything ALWAYS have to be someone's fault? Sometimes, timing is just bad! But I am thankful there are people out there who would be willing to help someone if they were being raped, and I hope if I were in that situation, I would be brave enough to come to someone's rescue as well.
I will grant you that his heart was in the right place, but his brain wasn't. I think the logic involved was pretty simple, he got in trouble for kicking in a man's door and waiving a sword around. I don't think it matters what reasons were involved. Because if there was a girl being raped in the room, what would he have done? Run him through? That kind of vigelantie justice isn't acceptable to society, not that rape is either, but that doesn't make it Ok to do what he did. There were more acceptable courses of action.
Clearly you never heard about that guy from Vermont. Who cut off the head of some dead guy he dug out of a cemetary, so as to bleach/dry his skull and make a bong out of it... http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/062906CorpsesHead.html haaa...
