    um, no. More sometimes wondering wether or not we were going to eat, having to rely on the church to buy us groceries half the time, not being able to learn music because my parents couldn't afford the lessons so would only let me do activities at school that were free, holidays were shit because they could never afford to do anything fun, they couldn't afford school camps, we all had to have stained second hand school uniforms and in order to do my exams they would make me go to the school and ask for government help because they couldn't even afford for me to get my basic school qualifications.
    And they brought it all upon themselves and the children who didn't have any say in it had to suffer through the concequences. They CHOSE to have 4 children when it was OBVIOUS they couldn't afford it. So no I didn't 'wah' because I didn't get the toy I wanted. I cried because all my friends grew up in happy, secure homes and got to learn music, go to school camps and were given all the oppertunites they needed to make the most of their lives, whereas I had to get where I am now COMPLETLY on my own.
    So I DON'T agree with people having children when they can't afford to. Its selfish. Period.

    hmm
    I never went to summer camp
    never did any extracurriculars that cost my mom money
    (did a dance thing that was for single parents in low income housing, a mom-daughter thing but it was gov't paid not by us)
    Wore hand me downs a lot of the time
    didn't have a terribly secure home either, what with moving at least every two years for hte longest time.

    Guess it depends on other factors aside from money. My mom devoted as much time as she could to me, made me feel incredibly loved. I sure as fuck didn't grow up rich, she was in the lowest income bracket (hell, we still are) but I'm glad I'm alive, glad my mom decided to keep me.

    Was it a conscious decision on their part, or did your mom just end up pregnant? I was an accident... most folks I know (particularly from lower income households) were accidents too

    Nope it was concious, they chose to have four children and they were really bad parents... I get on extrememly well with my mum now I am older (don't talk to my dad AT ALL, he was main the reason we were so poor), but they were bascially the sort of people who are too immature, ignorant and into themselves to be able to devote themselves to children. I was outsmarting them and sorting out my own morals and ethics by the time I was about 10 because theirs were hypocritical and did'nt make any sense. My homelife was NOT a happy one.

    I find it amazing how being a parent really should be the hardest thing to be in the world yet anyone who gets a cock up her twat can become a parent just like that. I am probably not going to have children because I am very councious I don't have the right kind of personality to make a child happy. And if I do decide to have one, I will have the right finances first.

    Wow. a lot of you dont know what the fuck its like to be poor. and shit happens, women get pregnant, even poor ones. nobody can stop that, you can only learn from it, & thats what ive done. People do the best they can with what theyve got. i know some of the best parents in the world who dont have much at all, but the kids is happy as can be. i was raised in a poor family & sometimes it sucked, but most of my memories i wouldnt trade for a damn thing. it all depends on if the parents are responsible enough to handle a kid. I know for a fact that a lot of people around me that are starting families have no business with kids & shouldnt even be around them but there is nothing anyone can do about it. y'all think if you start educating poor people about contraception then the problem is solved? nope, its not that they dont know how to prevent pregnancy its that most of them just dont give a shit. im not speaking for everyone, just from what ive experienced

    My childhood was similar. So when I say poor people should not have children unless they can afford one, is not an opinion out of nowhere it is based on experience.

    I would be scared if anyone above the age of fourteen did not know how to prevent pregnancy.

    You be surprised, most poor children don't learn anything at poor public schools. these schools are like day cares.

    Religious dogma is everywhere. most poor parents are victims of systems beyond their control and conscious.

    Abortion = irreligious
    Condoms = irreligious

    Sometimes it makes you wonder if most major religions were created by a bunch of wealthy people to insure poor people will produce to supply them with cheap labour.

    OK so instead of spouting off on HF shouldn't you be out educating ignorant teens and destroying the Catholic Church?

    Personally, I'd work on destroying the vatican. In that way, you lift the veil of ignorance from people all over the world, not just hormone-crazed teens.

    OTOH, I think the Catholic Church is imploding all on it's own. I give it 50 years. The final fall of the Roman Empire. I am turgid in anticipation...

    EXACTLY. I know what I went through and I am NOT going to have a child just because I want to, I have to be able to afford it first.

    I agree with you completely
    especially about the fuck shit for being poor part

    I'm medium poor, not really poor though, but I go to school right outside of the ghetto, so I know alot of poor ass people

    I seriously don't understand what half these people are thinking, or if they are at all

    this one girl I know, 16, no job, her boyfriend (19) has no job, they are keeping the baby and plan to move into an apartment, they haven't even thought about how they are going to afford it

    this is not an extreme case either, this type of shit happens all the time, personally, I blame the wellfare system, they rely on that instead of actual fucking money

    as my 'friend' says:
    mo' kids = mo' wellfare = mo' free cheese yo
