Meh.. I dunno. I think human beings aren't evolved enough not to create drama within their lives as a monogamous couple already - so polygamy.. sounds too complicated. Too many emotions.. I don't think it can work unless there is absolutely no emotional involvement.

Its like people have a best friend, then best friends, then a group.
And animals in a family have their closest, then others.

Less evolved creatures have efficient polygamist relationships sans drama all the time.

it is not an evolutionary concern.

it is a concern dealing more with the complexity of the relationships involved and the jockeying for position that occurs with modern relationships.

 

but being able to deal with that is being more evolved in my opinion - I'm not talking about general brain abilities.. monkey vs. human for example..

 

that deals with social expectations and load bearing capacities.

unless not being a polygamist can cause you to die, evolution in a true sense will not help

more refined social techniques, an absolute hierarchy, roles, a system, that can be held to without effort, MAYBE.

but the thing is, people as we are don't like systems, we don't like rules.

we don't like being told what to do

and there is a good evolutionary reason for that.


so, you'd probably need less evolved people.
