The U.S. political scene - today - is a degradation into REPUBLICAN-LED fascism. I see no humor in it - - - - - - at all. Sorry.

Ridicule is a powerful political weapon. If you insult and smear your opponent -he will just turn the insults against you. If you accuse him of wrongdoing, he will deny and call it a lie. If you make laughing stock of him, well there is little he can do about that and like a garrote the more he writhes and cavorts trying to escape it, the more its grip tightens. Never underestimate ridicule.

 

A prominent Italian politician became the protagonist of a less known comic strip. It was vile, insulting beyond imaginable but also totally spot-on. It was ferocious and hilarious. Did the politician sue ? HELL NO. That would have meant making the strip popular so the politician decided to ignore all that stuff altogether. And that was a smart move.
