http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/blog/article/4127/ I say lock him up - or would he just be sprung by the Animal Liberation Front?
first it's hard to comment as they didn't actually put in the article what he apparently said. if he's just buying clothes pegs from a gypsy woman, what's wrong with that? if he said something like "i better count to be sure you gave me the right number of clothes pegs cos you can't trust gypos" then yeah .. that'd be a problem so well, what is wrong with protraying gypsy people, as long at it is not associated with a negative stereotype. and well to ban Basil Brush from being shown to any kids because of one comment on one episode is rather over the top. just pull the episode and don't show it again! simple explanation.
Political correctness gone mad:hysterica Next they'll be complaining about the episode of Lazytown where Sportacus explains that the holocaust didn't actually happen
Hahaha, Basil Brush is a kids programme character.. didn't see any of em, but it seemed fairly harmless really.
Yeah, strange that this is the only complaint of racism that's happened. After all, whenever I've watched it recently (by accident of course) then they basically spend the whole time saying that Indians are tight and they make rancid food. Then again, I suppose having an Indian actor might help actually. Maybe the next 'Mr' character will be 'Mr Browveskichiv' or something to make up for it.
In many ways it's worse than Holocaust denial. At least there most sensible people will denounce and ridicule right wing extremists and anti-semites. Anti-gypsy prejudice is much subtler and has been ingrained into society, perpetuated by seemingly benign jokes and stereotypes, to the point where it has become a form of legitimised racism. Basil Brush should hang. Not only is he a racist and an embarrassment to embarrassing dads everywhere with his abysmal humour, it's well known that he's merely the sober alter ego of the crack fox.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J7_QoRyJ30
