Police chief Marvin Hoover of Klatskanie Oregon has had to resign from his job, because he likened black people to monkeys. This seems to be a common attitude among police officers in America.

of course. And certain black people are rough and frightening and incapable of being left alone so let's stop them while they're sitting on a chair or bench doing f'ng nothing because they're going to be a threat to something sooner or later.

I've come across some pretty racist cops. His mind just might be addled but I would still venture to say its probably a pretty common attitude. But you don't have to take my word for it, just ask any black person.

In an official report filed with Department of Public Safety. two police officers claimed Chief Hoover made monkey sounds and moved around the room with his hands under his armpits in an offensive manner.

“As Chief Hoover was comparing African-Americans to monkeys, I began to become extremely uncomfortable,” Officer D. Alex Stone said in the complaint. “I have never been in a work environment where a manager, especially an executive officer, is openly racist.”

In the documents, Officer Stone stated Chief Hoover’s racist remarks came after he was debriefed on the arrest of a woman who claimed she would file lawsuits against the police department, citing racism and discrimination.

what you guys fail to realize, or so it would seem based on your communications here, that responding with immature, opinion based, general and rhetorical bullshit is no better than that asinine racist cop acting like the idiot he is.

Respond with sense and rational ideas that are based in fact and reality and you will get much further, otherwise it is just assholes yelling at each other on both sides of the fence.

Go reads Shales recent post about Kim Davis if you want to get an idea of how it should be done so that it actually garners attention rather than just being dismissed as yet another asshole spouting off.

Comparing any human to simpler primates is meant to be an insult to intelligence. I remember how GW Bush was compared to a chimpanzee, even so far as to call him the "Chimperor" for being a monkey-faced greedy corporate stooge for the defense industry. But to have a public official do this is a huge red flag. It could call the entire department into question and packs of greedy lawyers would demand reviews of all cases.

The US system can't tolerate this sort of obvious personal bias. This is why the clerk in Kentucky should not be in jail, but should also not be in her post as clerk. Nobody is supposed to allow their faith to influence their office or the well becomes poisoned utterly. This is also why we should not tolerate the government trying to align itself with causes that don't serve the greater good. Equality should be a fixed concept, but in the US it has become dynamic, based on the political and butt-hurt winds of who can whine the loudest. And who can be pegged as automatically guilty.

I agree George; moreover, I have the case of Cheree Stanley (I think I've got the name right) who is taking her employer to court. She worked as an airline stewardess and refused to serve the passengers booze, claiming to be a Muslim. Like Kim Davis in Kentucky, she asserts that her faith must be observed by her employer. Both of them can go get another job, just like this bad cop in Oregon. Public employees must be monitored by the public, always.

Uhmmm, but the airline stewardess isn't a public employee, she was an employee of the airline, a private company. Her case is lame and very doubtful she will win because she really hasn't got any grounds to stand on.
Her refusing to serve alcohol is not an infringement upon her constitutional rights but rather it is/was technically insubordination on her part, and I would hope any judge would see it that way.
Kim Davis is also not technically a public employee but rather an elected official. Sadly she can't just be fired.

so I really fail to see the connection to the incident with the racist police chief.

People using their faith to assume moral high ground in a manner directly affecting the lives of others because of their position. It's a mindset issue as I see it. But I do think a government representative is more egregious than a flight attendant who somehow slipped through the cracks when the rules of the employer were being conveyed. But either way, a job is a job and using your job to advance what is essentially your agenda, is basically wrong no matter what faith you claim.

Is there really any difference between these two:

"I'm black and I think and assume that most cops are racist and abusive and disrespectful"

"I'm a cop and I think and assume that most blacks are criminals and violent and disrespectful"

    ASSUME,
    makes an
    ASS
    out of you
    monkeys!

I've seen white people kill black people, I've seen white people kill white people.
I've seen black people kill white people, I've seen black people kill black people.
I've even seen a few whites and blacks rise above animalistic ignorant behavior and act like rational civilized decent respectful human beings.

No, I think the cop was being a garden variety bigot, bordering on racism (I'd have to know more about his past cases and policies). When I speak to faith, I am not pointing strictly to religion. Political power is its own sort of faith and like any faith can become the wellspring of corruption.
