Canadian police have descended on an encampment of residents, including members of the Mi’kmaq First Nation, who have been holding a weeks-long blockade to prevent wtf-fracking the process of blasting water and chemicals into shale rock to extract natural gas..

The conservative governments in Canada have the insistent idea of moving the stock market by promising the oil (and gas) deposits WILL ACT as the sustenance of "energy" resources (I guess instantly psychic) into supply and demand of new commodities for the social entrepreneurs.

Imagine aboriginals selling OIL products like anointing ways to teach HOW TO drive cars, OR is it, stop driving cars. Prime Minister Harper is hoping for the resurgence of the Nader consumer advocacy.:sunny:

One of the local First Nations chiefs was arrested along with like 40 other people. Another instance of Canada forcefully taking back land promised to Native people as soon as they see some sort of value in it. Pathetic.

The serious dogma must go; I believe that the western conceded biased policy supporters have a different opinion of human rights. Canada is forcefully disrespecting just economic practice. I don't believe that there are that many Aboriginal opportunists.:afro::2thumbsup:

They get along better in the human rights debate politically I guess. I just am for It. Greenpeace can worry about it's own consent to non-violence.:biker:

Wait, is the area in question actually on tribal land? I can't find anything saying yes or no.

It is supposed to be a day that commemorates the signing of the 1752 Treaty of Friendship and Peace between the Mi’kmaq and the Crown, a day spent promoting Mi'kmaq culture and history across Atlantic Canada.
Instead, Elsipogtog First Nation leaders and members marked Mi'kmaq Treaty Day by defending their land from fracking. First Nations in New Brunswick said they've had enough of shale gas exploration in their territory, and they want a Texas-based exploration company to leave.

According to the CBC article I read earlier, it is on reserve land. Land that is being held by the crown 'in trust' for the First Nations people. I'll see if I can find it.

Here, this helps somewhat. I'm still unclear of what the history of this particular land is:

It's debated. Government says it's Crown Land. Mi'kmaq say they never gave it up.
Even if it is Crown land, the First Nations are considered stewards of nature and would be protesting it. Things like contaminated aquifers don't follow property lines.

In Alberta: The pipelines will go through MANY tribal lands.

I am afraid it never will. It is part of the human condition and will never be done away with.

Hmmm, that would make for an interesting topic for a paper. Greed - nature or nurture?

I intercede again. By the debate we have accomplished by the details show (in spite of Gazprom and their mean business in Russia) that the human condition is only about capitalism and it's entrepreneurship.

Other than that the human condition is about my diarrhea attack. We were supposed to become better custodians of the land and sea, but we have merely improved our honesty for the Lands.

Some protesters have threatened members of the media and taken control of one of their vehicles. They're really putting a bad face on these protests.
