NSW has the distinction of having per capita, more poker machines on the planet than anywhere else. I fail to see the appeal and even the all the sounds they make do nothing for me. I would rather listen to the sound of a waterfall or a kookaburra.
absolute pathetic no lifers, that is all i have to say about anyone who even goes near them. i dislike the governments for allowing them to exist so they, and the venues can profit (very highly) from them, however if people didnt use them, the governments and the venues would get rid of them.
I've played them a fair bit. I've won some money on them, I've lost money on them. They are no longer appealing to me. When I first started playing them I won like $800. The next week $70 and the week after about $170. That sucked me right in, it seemed to easy. I don't believe I've actually lost too much in fact I could still be ahead or probably more like broken even and then probably.. I am behind. I started to lose interest more and more when I worked at a gaming venue as a security guard. While the money I lost was disposable income I've literally watched people throw their rent away or mortgage and really panic about it and well at the time the patrons gave me the shits always so I didn't care but when you go home and think about it, it's messed up. Also I've developed tinnitus over the years and honestly, some of these machines are too loud, especially those trains that go off.
A tax for idiots. Seriously, they are a scourge of society. Brilliant marketing and product design as it sucks the punters in. What a horrible way to make money though. Tim Freedman. Spot on son!
https://g.co/kgs/Eo8jjp There was the stage Two red lights and a Dodgy P.A You trod the planks way back then And it's strange that you're Here again - here again " " And I wish , I wish I knew the right words to make you feel better Walk out of this place Defeat them in your secret battle Show them you can be your own man again " " Don't, don't explain Lots of little victories take on the pain It takes so long to earn You can double up or You can burn - You can burn " " And I wish, I wish I knew the right words To make you feel better Walk out of this place Defeat them in your secret battle Show them you can be your own man again " " And I wish, I wish I knew the right words To blow up the Pokies and Drag them away 'Cause they're taking the food off your table So they can say that the trains run on time " " Flashing lights - It's a real show And your wife - I wouldn't go home The little bundles need care And you can't be a father there Father there " " And I wish, I wish I knew the right words To blow up the Pokies and Drag them away 'Cause they're taking the food off your table So they can say that the trains run on time " Great lyrics. Great message. Stuff the pokies.
Unfortunately my sister's marriage ended after 37 yrs due to her husband's addiction to them.Weekends, thats all he wanted to do,go to the pub and play them.Started off innocently enough.Slowly though the addiction took over, and after 6 yrs,and finding out he had spent $55,000 playing them,my sister left him.Serves him right.
Same with propert or shares or any form of investment. Some ways of making money are just smarter or have better odds than others.
Long term investments in property or shares gain due to inflation and their are no looser's. But with short term trading, your gain is someone else's loss.
Fro a statistical standpoint, if one plays long enough, one will end up a loser. Yet the odds of being an outlier and winning for a period of time are an order of magnitude better than the climate scientists being wrong about global warming.
