Most of these are or will become songs, by the way :guitarist:

    "Cookie"
    The cookie was brown
It sat there in a jar on a shelf
    All alone in the dark
    The last of its kind

    One day, I came along
Searching for whatever I could find
And I could SMELL it, so good
    The last of its kind

I reached in, and I took it out
And stared at it with great intent
And then it ceased to exist
The last of its kind, gone

    Think about that

    "My Friends the Pansies"
I took a walk through a field of flowers
I let the pansies lead the way
And I thought to myself, what a wonderful place
Oh how I want to stay

Lost in a field of flowers
    And filled with bubbling mirth
It was here I finally found myself
Though the pansies knew me first

Have you ever knew if pansies flew
    Straight into the sky
Here among them I float, just like a boat
    Upon them I gently lie

So I took a walk through a field of flowers
I let the pansies lead the way
And I'm lost to you, 'cause you never knew
With the pansies I will stay

Inspired by the Black Crowes song Seeing Things (the music is, anyway), dedicated to my wonderful girlfriend

"Find Me (Ballad of Two Lost Souls)"
There's somethin', babe, I'd like to tell you
Something I thought you should know
How I cut myself right open
    Let that red water flow

Then it heals, but the pain remains, and I would do it all over again
If you didn't cry so much about it, lordy mama, you know it ain't a sin

I pull my thoughts deep, so deep
Into the depths of the sea
Until I learn again, or maybe for the first time
To be happy just to be

To take the flower and let it grow
To take the hurt and let it go
And in time... I will find...
    Myself again

However dark, babe, the skies may be
Just take me, honey, and set me free
Free to fly through the wind, the cold rain and snow
And if you see me up there, won't you bask in my glow?

I honestly cannot believe that things could ever stay this way
And babe if they did, there's still the light of day

If you could just hold on to me
Fly up to the mountain, see what we can see
And instead of looking out around us we look within
Ooh, come on babe, let's find us again

And take the flower and let it grow
Take the hurt and let it go
And in time... you will find...
    Yourself again

We used to dream of better days
Behind us or ahead, it didn't matter which
And all in the while, time snuck past in the now
Too ignorant of us to not see this

And your heart with mine can melt away the years
Spent worrying and tired, worn down with sorrow
We're barely sixteen, baby, but still holding on to our fears
So why don't we stop this and make a better tomorrow?

    How, you ask me?

    HOW?

Let's take the flower and let it grow
Let's take the pain, and let it go
And in time... we will find...
    You and I

Yeah, let's take the flower and let it grow
Let's take the pain, and let it go
And in time... we will find...
    You and I
