so rat. in your opinion, where do I fit in. I cant promise I wont argue with you about it, but I am genuinely curious what your opinion is.

 

You seem like a fairly intelligent guy to me, so probably #1. I am sure you do it for the money, too.

Then again, I thought you only work on planes? If so, it really doesn't apply to you as much. I am talking more about the people in battle, who accept being a part of it. You didn't sign up expecting to fight, right?

But still, if a person doesn't fully support the war, they should ask themselves why they are helping to contribute to the force that feeds it, even if they might not actually be fighting in combat itself.

That's just my 2 cents. Feel free to disagree.

I do. Just the electronics on planes. I read you list a few times, and while I feel I am inteligent, I think I am number 4. I made bad decisions for a long time before I took what seemed to be the best decision for me. I wanted to go to college and I didnt want a student loan. This was pre 9/11 2001 4/6 1999 to be exact, and I was just looking for a way out of the hole I dug. I am not too unhappy with my choice. I dont hate you people that disagree with me and my choices. I personally would go to war to support your right to hate me. I have my reasons for re-enlisting when I did. I wont do it again. april 29 2008 will be my last day in the military. I will walk away proud, free and able to do what I want for the first time in 9 years 23 days. plus I will have 9 years of practical on the job electronics experience so that I can better provide for my daughter.

I have have met many a paranoid moron while I was going to college in the early nineties. some people think the abitlity to attend class makes them smarter than anybody else. I see some aspects of that in you. Ypu have well informed opinions, and I am sure you could argue me into a fetal ball whimpering for my mom. But that wouldnt make you right. Just practiced. SO you a polysci major? the true inside to whats happenning in the world? Seems like a very intresting major. My dad majored in that. SO did one of my tightest friends. Both simply manage money for other people now.

No, why would you think that? I'm majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Biology. Managing money sounds like a hell for a career, I will be in the great outdoors.

ok I took a shot in the dark and was wrong. everyone has opinions, that goes without saying. thats like saying everybody should breathe. DUH!!!!!! when you attack me personally how should I be expected to take it..in your opinion? I find your course of study every bit as useless as you veiw my employer. neither of us will ever solve anything. environmental studies huh? good luck with that. And I do mean that. I dont think you will do anything but work in a florist, but it would be nice if somebody was able to change something.

 

I take it the same way. I don't like it when people say because you are military, that you are "brainwashed," or associated with morons. Im pretty selective who im around, on flight I don't have a choice, but I try to set a good example for my fellow airmen.

Green thumb, the contradiction I was referring to is when you said " I know people in the military and all of them are not smart. Coincidence? Doubt it", then you said, "I'm sure there are smart people in the military, but they are still pawns." Thats a contradiction.

I still don't see myself as being a "pawn" either. My job relies on my judgement. That eventually leads to my actions. If there is a point where I need to pull the trigger, it will not be "because im told to," Its because I feel my life, and other peoples life is at risk. Its my choice. That is something you will never understand, never have been put in that situation. When you are behind a weapon, you are the weapons commander, that is the chain of command.

Oh, I know what you thought was a contradiction. It wasn't though. Everyone I know in the military is somewhat lacking in intelligence. They are not complete idiots, but definitely not scholars. This is a fact. My guess is that this is the norm rather than the exception. The exception would be the few that are actually intelligent. Yet they are all brainwashed. This is my position as clearly as I can put it. If you don't get it now, I don't know if I can put it more simply. Really, the more you type, the more you help prove my point.

You're right, I will never be put in that position, because I refuse to be a pawn. If you are truly against this war, you will never put yourself in that position either.

I'm sick of everyone trying to force everyone else to support our troops. If you support our troops, you support the war. It's very simple. A lot of you need to wake up out of your politically correct daze and realize that. I will continue to speak the truth, even if it is "harsh". Sometimes I feel like I'm the only sane person on this board. Lickherish and Laughingwillow also seem very sensible. That's OK, I'd rather be in the sane minority than the insane majority.

What are you talking about?? I have nothing. I have some clothes, books, a place to stay and a part-time job. Everything I have, I earned. Oh yes, I have one more thing, DEBT. Student loans. Yes, I'm soooo spoiled. You're out of your mind. I grew up on a farm, I'm willing to bet I've worked harder already than you have all your life.

You really have something against college students don't you? Sounds like jealously. I don't like you because you are willing to kill people. To a reasonable person, that makes sense.

You're too quick to jump to conclusions and judge people. I'm in college, does that mean that I'm a close minded person? Far from it.

If we're going to start judging people, then going by the last few pages, crummyrummy really seems like the type of guy who carries a mirror in his pocket and puts himself always before others. I liked the comment: "another worthless american waste of oxygen. but at least mom and dad provided for you. you can pretend your existence mattered." You act like your existence is anymore important than the next persons. The last few pages have been nothing but name calling and childish, immature behavior. But that seems like what all these debates come down to.

But for my two cents, there's really not a lot there to debate about. It's all on the commission's reports, including routes and time frames. Sure there's some shady things revolving around this incident, but there's going to be no sure way to prove it either way. The mass believes in their government to a level I believe is unheathy. There's two choices: mindlessly follow and believe everything your god-like government says, or realize that your government is made up of human flesh and blood and take everything with a grain of salt. But what do I know, I'm just a college student making his way through his "worthless" life.
