Brilliant idea, why don't we tell everyone about it.

 

The trouble is, people won't choose to do that en masse. You will get individuals who will sacrifice some of the conveniences of modern life for the greater good, but they will always be in a minority. Basic game theory shows that if there is a common resource and, say for simplicity's sake, two rational people exploiting it, neither would choose to limit their actions individually as it would be a cost to them at no gain. Rather to limit such exploitation there must be an independent (government) body regulating the exploitation of resources. Simply put, you must coerce people. The most polluting vehicles must be banned, households must be limited to one car each and so on and so forth. Whilst all individual measures to protect the environment should be encouraged, only goverments can truly make a difference....

 

this thread saddens me man .........what happens when all the cows and chickens run out .....whos next ? .....maybe the people who voted for the cows and chickens ......lets hope so ......or maybe they might start on humanity itself . i have this horrible image in me head now of the minching machine off THE WALL .......
