Does America have specifically "gay gyms".
I've never heard of any in England. Altho Brighton and Soho might be different.

This makes me wonder. Changing rooms were originally segregated because u wouldn't want men perving at women (and vice versa).

Now I'm wondering, when I'm changing, there could be some gay guy pretending to be phoning someone. But really he could be videoing me to show his friends and stuff...

So taking the old "male- female" segregation principle, perhaps in today's era, we should have a new division of changing rooms with signs reading:-

    Male
    Female
    exclusively gay
    exclusively lesbian
    impotent and/or disinterested
    bi
tri-sexual, I'm game for anything, hello sailors and sailor-esses. PS you bring the cream.

Infact, so many options, maybe they should just have lots and lots of cubicles...

Yeah, like when they told a woman who was apparently in great shape to put a shirt over her halter top because she was intimidating the other patrons, that’s just fucked up..

The ultimate fitness gym, run by Dr. Mallard. (Three Stooges episode Monkey Businessmen)

"We'll run them ragged and take them for every cent they got."

At least one person got cured, by accident. :)

I wouldn't be intimidated by a chick with a 6 pack but I'd be turned off by one.
Women with muscles to me is like just not nice looking.

I joined because it's across the street and they only charge 10$ a month.

Johnny LaRue (John Candy) was doing Planet Fitness in the 1970's. There was another episode where he was exercising by opening and closing the refrigerator door.

A ham sandwich is a great cure for muscle spasms caused by sit-ups.

Are you suggesting the Owner and CEO of Planet Fitness formulated this confidence scheme by watching Larry, Moe, & Curly?

I don't think those guys would like the weight room at my gym. Almost everyone in there is well-built. Some of those guys lift much more than I do and they can be pretty loud sometimes (I'm not). I'm so used to it that it that I barely even notice (I'm usually wearing ear buds anyway). But nobody is trying to be intimidating and mostly nobody is watching anyone else except for every one in a while when you know that someone is about to lift something really, really heavy. Then we may stop for a sec just to see if he was successful.

Planet Fitness sounds like a joke. And most of the people I know who PF would call "lunks" are actually very nice people who would be the first to help out someone new to the gym scene.

yes, but they call them clubs here not gyms. men's gym would be hetro, the club would be specified so you dont walk into a trap. there are not that many btw..

will i think the idea of these places and people paying money to go to them, is kind of rediculous.

appearantly the body does need some physical exercise. and i probably don't get enough of it. but i can't think of anything more boring to rob my time from things that gratify me, the a regeme of physical exercise.

it just strikes me is a bit humerously insane that people spend this money and drive these miles to go to these places, but don't want to walk two blocks to the grocery store and carry their purchases home in their own sturdy canvas shopping bags.

i think its a measure of the hight of rediculousness of worshipping money, and refusing to see or look at anything in any larger context outside of the box of it.

i mean, there's so many other things you CAN do. like take a day labour job, unloading 50 or 100 lb sacks off the back of a truck. not only will you get the exercise, but they'll PAY YOU to do it. maybe not as much as you might like them too, but still, such a deal.

I remember seeing you post something like this before. But to each their own. :) I'm sure my gym costs more than Planet Fitness but it's about one block from my house, it has a huge indoor swimming pool with diving boards, indoor track, basketball, etc. The family enjoys it and I enjoy the weight room mostly. My wife has pretty painful sciatic nerve problems if she doesn't exercise regularly so it's therapeutic for her.

I think any gym with some kind of gimmick sounds like a hellish place, but it does sound like they're trying to cater to the people who are uncomfortable with the idea of going to a gym and being judged for being out of shape, it's beyond silly, but when there's so many gyms to choose from I think some people would prefer a place like this, while others would prefer a place that's just a location filled with gym equipment. I don't get the free pizza though, at least give them a free smoothie or bag of trail mix or something seemingly healthy.

I tend to agree. I dont really judge people who go to the gym often, especially if they are out of shape because its always good when an out of shape person tries to get in shape. The gym is just not for me. I'm a fit person and I put a lot of value on health and fitness but I prefer to do it in a way that isn't so artificial and, well, confined to one area. I get most of my exercise just from long walks or dancing around the house. Hauling around a two year old is also a great alternative to weight lifting lol.

Just having a 2 year old is a work-out all by itself on some days. :)

I've been babysitting my two year old nephew for the past few days, and I am exhausted.
I'd take the gym over a kid any day lol.
However, I don't really like going to the gym much. Pilates and barre classes are pretty much enough for me these days.

If you're stuck in a situation where you aren't getting real exercise (ie: you work in an office), the gym is pretty much the next best thing.

well something needs to be done about this one. sure, it's annoying as hell when you're trying to lift something and suddenly the whole room is shaking. or even worse, when you're trying to work in your office upstairs and suddenly the whole room is shaking.

but beyond mere annoyance, throwing weights around damages the weights, and if you're not lucky enough to have a basement weight room, it can damage the building too. the place i worked at a couple years ago had to close their entire weight room for a month at one point because some cool guy threw his weights right through the floor and into the boiler room.

Because of what I do my body is in almost perfect physical condition and I say almost perfect as I have 3 bullet wound scars on my chest which have healed well.

The SECRET to getting into great shape in body, mind, spirit and Health wise such as Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Autoimmune issues is to eat as much Protein as possible and do NOT eat any Machine Milled Processed Wheat Flour products such as white bread will kill you!!!

A Vegan Diet is quite possibly one of the most unhealthy diets a Human Being can have as Human's are Omnivorous and our bodies and minds flourish when exercising and eating Animal Fat's and Proteins as well as eating Organic Vegetables...one piece of fruit MAX a day....and eat dairy and NEVER EVER EAT MARGARINE, ANYTHING LABELED LOW FAT and use Olive Oils.

NEVER drink diet Soda's....drink only no more than 8 oz. of Fruit Juice with no High Fructose anything in them....and if anyone wants to learn how to safely and quickly loose weight and gain muscle Google the work...KETOSIS...and PM me.
