like i said, you've shown me wikipedia. probably the most illegitimate and the most populara source of info on the internet. but, you do know how to goole. so good for you.

this was supposed to be about who has pitbulls. instead it has turned into a breed bashing by a few ignorant people.

my final point will be that most people should not own dogs of any sort. for example, can anyone accurately tell me what is happening in this pic?

See you're actually more dangerous than the dog because you're purposefully ignoring these 'facts'. That's what you're doing, you're ignoring facts.

i gave you a link to two separate studies on dog attack fatalities.. how much more do you want?

the studies show there is a disproportionate number of fatalities relating to the breed..

but of course thats not good enough for you..
i agree with face eater, owners like you make the breed far more dangerous because you fail to acknowledge the facts.

 

I think people are confusing the likeliness to bite with how dangerous an animal is.... Yorkies are biters a lot too but I would rather be bit by a yorkie any day of the week

 

and you believe your statstics even though the sources i gave you listed numerous reasons why dog bite statistics are inaccurate.

 

oh i already agreed with the article she posted siting cocker spaniels as being biters.. ive never claimed a pit bull was more likely to bite someone. what i said and what is true is they are more likely to KILL than most breeds. in fact all breeds besides rotties..

i'm not choosing not to believe them. i'm coosing to believe logic. that not everyone knows what a pitbull looks like. that mixed breeds are often reported as pitbulls for statistical purposes. that most dog bites are not reported...

i am not going to deny that a bit from a pitbull can be deadly, but to say that the entire breed should be banned is wrong. just plain fucking wrong.

My Cocker Spaniel is an asshole! We're thinking about selling him. He was abused by the familys little girl before us....and by abuse I mean a 3 year old that gives 'tough love' by rolling around on the dog. Lol. So, my little girl can't get within 10 feet of the dog without him freaking out and growling and showing his teeth. He hasn't bit her, but I don't want to chance it! He's great with adults....just not kids.
We have a Rottweiler mixed with something. He is SO freaking loving, but of course he's HUGE, so we have to be careful playing with him. He's still just a year old and hyperish. He's a GREAT guard dog, though. We had some trouble with our neighbors coming into our lot and screwing with stuff and stealing....so we got Scruffy (the rott) and since then if so much as a bird flies near the house, he's letting us know.

And, around here, a pit has to be registered and you HAVE to have a kennel to have one in city limits. I think that's great. We have far too many kids that run around in their yards to risk being attacked. I don't care how prevelant or not a pitbull attack is, I've seen it happen, and I fully agree with the registration. I am all for banning, too! Call me ignorant if you please, it's nothing I've not heard from the pitheads around here.

Perhaps my hate for Pitbulls comes from having SEEN my little brother being attacked (and, no, the dog was not out of familiar surroundings....he wasn't chained up and had free reign over the surrounding lots, he knew us quite well). Either way, unless you've had it happen to you, I guess you're going to take up for them, and that's quite alright. But, I think it's a little unfair to call people ignorant for not liking and being for the banning of pits when they've seen/known someone attacked by one.

 

i worked in a shelter environment for a few years and ive only been attacked by one pitt bull, but i was attacked by two labs, a chow mix, a handful of terrier mixes, and a shar-pei mix.

and there were more pitts and pitt mixes in that shelter than any other breed

....and like I said before they were breed as bait dogs long before they were breed as catch dogs.

 

when i call someone ignorant, it's not meant to be an insult. you saw your brother get attacked by a dog (a pitbull). i saw my sis get attacked by a dog (a yorkie) i was also bit by a dog (german shepard) as a child. but, i dn't go around saying all yorkies and german shepards should be banned. that's where the ignorance factor comes into play. most people do not understand dog behavior, and therefore, should not own dogs.

 

It's not an ignorance factor....if your bites were as bad from those dogs as my brothers bites were from the Pit, YOU'D be ignorant for NOT being against them. I'm sure they weren't near the severity of his, so you're not against them. Fine.

We didn't own the dog. Even before my brother was bit, I wouldn't have owned one, it wasn't the first one I've seen get mean, it's the first one I've seen attack, yes, but not the first MEAN one by far.

So, no, it's not an ignorance factor, it's an "I'd like to keep my face and body intact" factor.

 

Again.... HUMANS maim and kill more than any dog on the planet... Let's exterminate them....
