Suboxone lasts for a very long time. 55 hours may seem like a long time, but in the Suboxone world it is not. The Suboxone blocked your opiate receptors and basically kicked the Oxy out.

The drug that blocks your receptors is called naloxone if you want to do more research on its half life.

I have used suboxone many-a-times; both to ease w/d and taper and also to get high at times. I have 2 friends prescribed to it. And a few others that take it for fun.

I can tell you from my experiences that it definitely acts differently depending on whose taking the sub. My friend can take suboxone 2 days in a row and then the following third day pop a couple L10 or a 10mg methadone and feel the effects just as intense as any other day.

For me it is different. If I take a suboxone today, I am going to have to wait at least 48hr's before I will be able to "feel" effects from another opiate. Even after 48 hours, it won't be as intense as it'd normally be. 72 hours is seems to be the breaking point. But it all depends on how much I'd been taking, and for how long.

Well, there's my little snippit of experience with this situation. Hope it could count for something.

I have a low opiate tolerance and when I would do suboxone I would only take a very small piece of the pill and do a line and I felt good. Even my brother who does opiates almost all the time (oxy 80s, hydro 10s, almost everything except heroin) will only do maybe one or two very small lines.

Oh and just so people know, I never bought suboxone. I only did it when my brother had some and he would offer me a line, he would give me a very small line and tell me that it should do me good, and it did. I didn't try to push my limit because he even told me that for someone like me, a very small amount of sub would be enough.

Yes - that's what I had thought too. Actually the Naloxone that is put in the Suboxone pill is only there to prevent people from injecting the pills. If you dissolve the pill under your tongue, the naloxone passes through your system and does NOT act on your brain at all. If you shoot the Suboxone however, the naloxone will do it's job and essentialy be a shot of Narcan and you would be sorry.

It's the Buprenorphine that acts as a "blocker". It's not really a blocker. Buprenorphine has a super strong affinity for the mu-opioid receptors and will "kick out" any other opiates binded to the receptors (causing instant withdrawl if you are strung out). The Bup is onyl a partial agonist so it does not "activate" the receptors as much as something like heroin, so you do not get much of a high or other euphoric effects. It will, however, nullify your withdrawl symptoms in a pretty short period of time (4 to 10 hours).

If you wait about 24 hours after your last use and have dilated pupils and all the other not-so-nice opiate withdrawl sympotoms, then you would take 4mg of suboxone and wait an hour or 2, then take another 4 mg. In 4 to 6 hours you will be well out of the withdrawl. By the next day, with some sleep and fluids, you could be back at work no problem.
