Well, at least you ''pirated'' good tunes. I think most of us do it, in one way or another, but I still buy music. BUT, sometimes I download hard to find stuff from blogs and other places on the web. I think if record companies didn't overprice CDs, I think more people would purchase music. The record companies have been screwing us for years, now it's their turn to get screwed. The only problem is the artist or band is getting screwed too.
Not if you pay for the candy and the movie, movie theaters try to hold an unrealistic monopoly on food with price gouging, anywhere that wasn't in the theater would be against the law, it'd be the same as the only way to get music being through one record label that charged $30 a CD. or if you had to buy say a shirt to get an album instead.
So it's not wrong to sneak candy into a theature, as long as you pay for the candy somewhere else, and the movie. The theature doesn't want you to bring candy in, because they make money off the stupidly overpriced candy they sell. You arnt actuly stealing from them, because they arnt losing any money. you wouldn't have bought the stupidly overpriced candy anyway. So, you could say they're losing money because bringing candy in means you won't give them your money, but they arnt losing anything, and even if you didn't bring candy in, you wouldn't have bought candy from them. Now plug the word music in for candy
No, your argument doesn't work, because the candy isn't stolen. Most people who sneak candy in would just not buy candy in the theater. Most people still listened to music before it was free. If you're trying to use the movie theater as an analogy for a record label it again fails because the movie being shown is the equivalent of the CD, not the candy. Candy would be the equivalent of paying for a bonus disk with extra tracks on it. Jesus stop trying to justify your theft over the fact artists made money entertaining you. Everyone does it, I do it plenty, but I don't say it's ok cause they're rich. They entertain you, if you don't like it go sit in boredom for the next 50 years. You don't have a god given right to be entertained.
I find that those who remember when napster first come online and used it have no problem with downloading music, its the younger people, usually in there early teens who find it morally questionable. Who is whispering in these young peoples ears telling them its wrong? who influenced them? I dont give a fuck what rich asshole wants to build himself a runway in his yard, I also dont care if you are starving. If your music is good I will see you live that is how I operate but until you get off your musical ass and come to my state I will steal everything that is available to me.
another thing, I am not paying 20 plus bucks for a disk of plastic that will no longer work if it gets scratched. ALSO I dont care who in the RIAA is suffering they are the ones who take the money from the artists by taking percentages out of their record sales. They act like if they didnt exist music would stop. I find that hard to believe.
Yea but most people don't do that, most people download music and never go to/buy anything because they now feel they have an entitlement to it. The fact is record labels were once required for the artist and vice versa to survive. They could die out now thanks to the internet, but they won't, simply because of the fact most people have the "rabble, rabble, fuck you you're a rich musician, I'll steal your music all I want, rabble rabble" attitude. Again, you have no god given right to be entertained, same reason the posters in your room cost money, you have no god given right to pleasing atmosphere. Either do it yourself or admit it's someone else's artwork.
Dude, hold up. I appretiate art. Your previous post was art. You didn't ask for money, but I read it. If hipforums charged me to read it you still wouldn't get money (or in artists case not much money) if you did charge me to read it, I wouldnt care enough about your opinion to pay for it. The creators of south park support file sharing, all of the south park episodes are avalible to watch legaly on the Internet, and they're doing fine. I guess you can say that it's wrong if people don't want their music taken, but people will do it anyway, so they should embrase the new technology as a way to get their music heard
The grateful dead were all about piracy, they even used to have a bootleg section for pirate audio recorders
if I can get it free without getting caught, I'll go for it. I'm not rich ): if I didn't download it, I wouldn't buy it, too expensive.
Paying for a song is not the only way to pay for the music you hear. Concerts, shirts, posters, bumper stickers, donations. That being said, I'm currently a major pirate, and have a list of CDs and shirts I'm going to buy when I get the money.
am the same way.....i do anything to see my favorite bands and take out the 35 dollars to see them live..
